The place is old and, be honest, shabby but every necessary part is kept clean enough as a good diner. I only had Gomoku Fried Rice (or Cantonese Chaw Fan), as I often do to know a first Chinese restaurant, and it came out pretty well. The rice was kind of a wee bit crunchy but either not hard or greasy wet. I just wish the price (.9kY) was a little more tender to a bum like me. The regulars, on the other hand, were ordering some set meals or speciality dishes like a Two-dish Combo set or Mabo Fried noodles. Since every regular customer cried and missed alcohol, which was all temporarily withdrawn from the menu under the COVID-19 governmental guidance, I figured out it would have been like a Chuka Izakaya pub after office hours if the virus had been non-existent. In my opinion, this is one of the typical downtown Japanese-Chinese “Chuka” restaurants I used to see anywhere any town in Japan, but, recently, the species are about to be listed in the red data book, culturally. So, suppose you should cherish a place like this with your stomach via wallet like I did today and will tomorrow.

■Shop Name Beijing Hanten ■Location Shinjuku-Gyoemmae Station ■Budget 1000〜1999 yen ■Menu ordered ・Set C (Beijing Don + Ramen) ・Gyoza ----- Walking on the night road after drinking. Shinjuku-Gyoemmae doesn't have the crowded feeling like Shinjuku, but rather an image where many good restaurants are mixed with residential areas. This time I visited this shop. A shop visited by celebrities and there are many signatures on the wall. There are photos from that time, maybe it was used for location shooting or dramas! It's a shop that has déjà vu because it was used in a recent Netflix drama. Impressions are below. ▼Set C (Beijing Don + Ramen) Ramen based on pork bone but dried fish broth is very effective Refreshing taste that makes you want to eat it after drinking Towards the end, it tastes a bit like hot water Well, this might be charm Medium-sized noodles and satisfying Beijing Don refers to Mapo Don Viscosity is strong and it feels like Mapo Tofu made by Japanese people Rather than numbness, spiciness, and combined with spiciness, I also feel the sweetness of miso There is a contrast of taste and it's good ▼Gyoza There is a garlic feeling and it's good Sui Gyoza is probably the same The skin is soft and easy to eat You can enjoy the chewy skin I want to drink sake with this That's all. Speaking of town Chuka in Shinjuku-Gyoemmae, it's this shop. It's that famous. Maybe it was used in your favorite drama? lol Thank you for the meal. I will come again.

3 minutes walk from Exit 3 of "Shinjuku-Gyoemmae Station" on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line. Along Hanazono-dori, where a wide variety of restaurants line up from casual shops to high-end shops, there is a Chinese canteen that has been loved for a long time. It is a town legend that has been there without change for about half a century in this area where shops change frequently, "Beijing Hanten". Nostalgic appearance that can be said to be unique in this area. Red tent, yellow signboard, and sun-tanned food samples lined up messily in the glass case in front of the store. When you open the door bordered by a lightning pattern, the familiar red counter and red table shine. And the menu list lines up on the wall overhead. Nostalgic scenery that makes you want to say "I'm home" unintentionally. Time is a little past 15:00 on a weekday. It seems that after the customers calmed down, there was only 1 owner in the shop. Eh, wasn't this managed by a couple? When I asked the owner, the landlady had already gone home, and he himself was just about to take a break, but despite that timing, he welcomed me warmly. There are plenty of menus on the table too. Just noodles alone there are about 50 types. If you combine single-dish dishes and izakaya menus, there might be 150 types. According to the owner, the number kept increasing while responding to requests from regular customers. After careful consideration, what I ordered was Omu-rice and Gyoza. The owner cooks deftly, and it is served at the same time without waiting long. First, take a bite of Gyoza. The outside is crispy and fragrant, the inside is moist. The filling has a good balance of meat and vegetables and is slightly sweet. This goes well with beer. Omu-rice is a standard Chinese Omu-rice style with thin fried eggs where the contents are visible, ketchup, and fukujin-zuke. The fact that the ingredients of the ketchup rice inside are onions and pork (not chicken) is also common in town Chuka. Rice is firmly wrapped in ketchup but there is no mushy feeling, and it is delicious because it intertwines with eggs in the mouth. It is a very valuable shop in this neighborhood where you can enjoy lunch casually and leisurely in a spacious shop. ****************************** 【Beijing Hanten】 📍1-16-10 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo ✔️Omu-rice ¥930 ✔️Gyoza ¥650 ✔️Bottled beer (medium bottle) ¥600 ******************************

Old-fashioned town Chuka I came to the shop during the hot summer season. I was greeted that it was hot today, and I was given cold water. For the set meal, I had Omu-rice. It was delicious! I am satisfied with the amount, taste, and price. At lunchtime, many office workers came to the shop. Personally, I don't mind the customer service, but because it's an old-fashioned town Chuka atmosphere, I don't recommend it for those who want polite customer service.

Lunch at a town Chuka with a bitter shop building along Hanazono-dori right near Shinjuku-Gyoemmae, closed on Sundays and holidays but open continuously on weekdays and Saturdays so I am grateful that it is open until late at night. Menu includes set meals of standard menus such as fried foods like Menchi-katsu, Nira-tama stir-fry, Ebi-chili, and Aochin-nikushi, as well as various noodles and rice such as ramen. Egg and wood ear mushroom set has fluffy eggs, thinly sliced bamboo shoots, bok choy, onions, carrots, and pork, which makes rice go well. Menchi-katsu set has cabbage, yakisoba, and fried egg, and the volume is large. Five-kind hard noodles have plenty of vegetables such as bean sprouts, leeks, and onions in the sauce, and 2 thick char siu pieces on top like a topping, crispy texture and plenty of sauce, maybe a bit like plate udon. There are still many unexplored menus so I will go again when I want to eat a lot from noon.
