The late Chef 王 恵仁 of 「シェフス」 established a delicate style known as “Chinese cooking by subtraction,” bringing out and refining the natural flavors of ingredients. Born into a politician's family in Shanghai, he turned his passion into a career as a chef. The fine food he sought was not superficial showiness, but true luxury that makes both body and soul happy when eaten. Even after Chef 王's passing, this culinary philosophy remains the foundation of the restaurant.

The food is acceptable but definitely overpriced for the quality. Thousands of better choices in Tokyo. Sorry.

I went at 11:17 on a weekday and got in without lining up. There were 3 customers already inside. I could sit alone at a large table. The interior is clean. I ordered 麻婆豆腐 & rice for 1000円. They asked whether I wanted hot or cold tea, and I chose cold. The tea arrived in 2 minutes. It was over 20 degrees outside, so it was cold and refreshing. The salad arrived 1 minute later. It was good in the usual way. Rice arrived 5 minutes after the salad. The 麻婆豆腐 arrived 1 minute after that. For some reason, the rice's surface was slightly bluish. It tasted like ordinary, good Japanese rice. The 麻婆豆腐 had a flavor I'd never tried before. It wasn't spicy; rather, it was slightly sweet. A bit like a thick sweet-and-sour sauce. You could perhaps call it a unique 麻婆豆腐 that you can only eat here, but I don't think it would suit people who like the usual version, especially spicy Sichuan-style ones. Personally, I prefer it spicy. I should have ordered something else. Left at 11:36. There were 8,9 customers inside. No line outside. Thank you for the meal.

I've been coming here often for a long time, and visited again after a long while, perhaps because the chefs have changed several times, the seasoning has changed too, times change, good chefs are becoming fewer, it's no longer Shanghai cuisine, it has kept changing, I think the customers coming now are probably here because its old reputation remains, the prices haven't changed, only the taste has declined, there are more empty seats than before, it used to be very hard to get a reservation, it's one of the restaurants I've liked for years, I hope it becomes delicious again like it used to be.

Made an evening reservation for a girls' night. The atmosphere and location are quintessential neighborhood Chinese restaurant, but perhaps because the dishes are elaborate, each item is fairly expensive. There was a madam, and as we asked for recommendations she suggested, “How about something fried too?” and we ended up ordering as she suggested. They also portion out the food for you, so the service gets full marks. The Dragon Highball, Shaoxing wine mixed with soda, is very delicious. In any case, both the appetizers and spring rolls have flavors you won't find elsewhere, which is outstanding. Still, I can't deny the feeling that it's expensive for what you get.
