Longstanding, basement-level coffee shop renowned for creamy French toast with a choice of dips.

Our signature 『French toast』 is cooked on a copper griddle, making it crisp outside and fluffy inside. It pairs wonderfully with siphon-brewed coffee or carefully selected teas. At both lunch and dinner, we also offer French toast sets with a generous salad and a hearty soup. Please visit us when you're in Shinjuku!

The Best French Toast in Tokyo - CAFE AALIYA Shinjuku🍰☕️🥪 I had a wonderful meal at CAFE AALIYA in Shinjuku. Even on a weekday, the place was quite crowded and there was a bit of a wait for the food to be served, but let me tell you—it was absolutely worth it! ■ Heavenly French Toast The signature French Toast is legendary for a reason. It has a unique, melt-in-your-mouth "fluffy and silky" texture, almost like a custard pudding inside. It’s perfectly sweetened and goes amazingly well with the fresh whipped cream. ■ Great Variety and Presentation We also tried the paninis and the vegetable soup. The soup was hearty and savory, providing a great balance to the sweet toast. Everything was served beautifully on silver trays, making the meal feel very special and elegant. ■ Atmosphere The cafe has a cozy, classic basement-shoppe vibe. Because it’s so popular, be prepared to wait a little, but the quality of the food and the kind service make it a must-visit spot in Tokyo. A perfect place for brunch or a sweet afternoon treat!

The best French toast I’ve ever had the chance to eat. Extremely delicate, fluffy, and full of flavor. The soup was also delicious (they were serving tomato soup at the time), and the salad was well seasoned. The set meal (soup and salad) is definitely filling enough.

must admit it looked like a tourist trap when I walked by and saw the “best french toast in tokyo” sign, but they LITERALLY have the best french toast I’ve had in my life. so soft it feels like a cloud. it’s also great value since it comes as a set with coffee. a perfect and very tasty breakfast. I had to wait around 10 minutes for a table, but the service was great.

Thick-cut, golden on the outside, and ridiculously soft inside — it’s almost custard-like. The texture is the real star here: light, fluffy, and literally melts the moment it hits your mouth. You barely even need a knife. What makes it special is how well-balanced it is. It’s buttery and slightly sweet on its own, so even without heavy syrup, it still hits. Add toppings like vanilla ice cream, whipped cream or apple cinnamon, and it just levels up depending on your mood. That said, it’s not perfect. The place gets packed, seating is tight, and you’ll likely wait during peak hours. Also, the menu is pretty focused — you’re really here for one thing, and that’s the French toast. Once seated, we almost waited another 20mins for the french toast to arrive as well which was quite a bummer.

dude. wow. best French toast of my life. got there at 10, there was a slight line up the stairs, but we were seated in about 10~15 mins (though the line had gotten longer behind us). the inside is cute and classy, and service was fast. the iced cappuccino's cold foam was pleasantly fluffy, but the coffee itself was a bit strong for me (I'm usually a latte drinker). the French toast is by far the star though. they used thick slices of this really fluffy bread, so it's like melty on the outside, but still a lil nice and chewy on the inside. it's sweet but balanced perfectly by the tart and refreshing frozen berries and the rich cream of the mascarpone
