The Berg is a good solid choice for an early breakfast at Shinjuku station. Personally, we love the Berg and have been going here for 25+ years. The atmosphere is retro and hasn’t changed. Little wooden balls hang from the ceiling. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A perfect, albeit claustrophobic, paradise in the deep bowels of the busiest train station in the world (and possibly the universe?). It's a great little *short order* eatery with a surprisingly peaceful vibe and a weird feeling of nostalgia that fills me with a strange sense of joy.

A really cool place and hidden gem in the tiny corridors of Shinjuku. Shinjuku is a massive station, so finding this hole in the wall café is no easy feat. You need to hear towards the Marinouchi metro line and it'll be on your left. Go inside, order a coffee (delicious beans), a breakfast or lunch menu, a hot dog, and match it with a beer if you're feeling like it. They have a good selection of craft beers. This place feels like the 80s, tiny, super nice and smiling staff, accepts credit cards, feels like a movie, is super affordable and the food is good too! The whole vibe is both strange and cool. I had a conversation with the Japanese person sitting next to me (very rare in Japan) and it was lovely. Would highly recommend.

A coffee shop and bar that has been operating near the east exit of Shinjuku station for a long time. Enter through the back entrance, order, receive beer and snacks, and pay. Traffic IC cards are accepted in addition to cash. The interior is small, with only a table for two and a counter. It is forbidden to talk to women so that you can drink alone in peace. ◎Half & Half 390 yen Cheap, tasty, and easy drinking. ◎Kipper Egg Sandwich 500 yen A sandwich of smoked kipper and fried egg sandwiched between crispy black bread. The saltiness of the kipper and the flavor of the egg are delicious. It is a wonder that it goes well with the dry bread.

Quite famous nostalgic cafe with a history. Surprisingly espresso was not bad and price was absolutely convenient! Old and chaotic but atmosphere is nice. If you wanna feel the traditional Japanese coffee culture, here may be your mecca.
