View on GoogleHello, it's Sapio ✍️Miraku@ Tokyo-to Shinjuku-ku Kitashinjuku 4-21-7 ______________ 🍥Highlights ✅A nostalgic ramen with a sharp shoyu flavor, paired with half a portion of fried rice packed with chunky chashu! ✅The curry soba and gomoku soba are apparently recommended too ✅Established in Showa 30 ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ [Score] 77 points ☆3.3 [Access] “Higashi-Nakano Station” [Order] Half fried rice+ramen 1100円 [Queue・System] No queue when visiting・Order verbally, pay afterward [Flavor] Shoyu Today I'm introducing “Miraku.” This is a long-established neighborhood Chinese restaurant founded in 1955. I spotted an incredibly old-school, evocative shop along the way. I couldn't help being drawn inside. Looking it up, the half-fried-rice menu seemed to be recommended, so I went for that. There was a sparrow inside, lol. It probably wandered into the shop by chance. The seating consists of a counter+tables. A 2-person operation, with the owner and proprietress apparently running it as a family business. There was 1 customer before me, but by the time I left the place was about nine-tenths full and bustling. The food was served while the owner and proprietress were bickering about this and that. ______________ 🟦Impressions ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ The ramen broth is strong on shoyu. There's a somewhat heavy animal-stock base, but the kaeshi really stands out. How should I put it… it tastes like the ramen I ate with my grandpa as a child. Was the shoyu that strong back then too? The noodles are medium-thick and straight, from “Yamaguchiya.” Chewy, classic Chinese-style noodles. The hydration seems a little high, and perhaps they're strong on kansui too. The chashu is thick and moist. This chashu must be made in-house. A very generous, meaty serving. Even the narutomaki was quietly cut into thick slices, with menma and spinach as the other toppings. The fried rice was packed with big chunks of chashu. I don't know if it varies, but the chashu was fatty and quite an indulgence. The amount of chashu rivaled that in famous meat fried rice dishes. The chopped naruto was endearing too. Texture-wise, it was a little moist, I think. Finished it all. Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleDelicious! An old-fashioned neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Strong flavors, making full use of the power of chemicals too. That's why it satisfies both your stomach and your heart. Maybe not something you'd eat every day, but sometimes you crave it intensely. A good place to go with family too. The fried rice the elderly lady makes in an iron wok has a flavor you can only get here. I hope this place keeps going for many years.
View on GoogleTHE Showa-era neighborhood Chinese restaurant! ☺️ The fried rice is especially moist, generous, and delicious. The tanmen is unpretentious and simply tasty too. It might not be the place for a date, but it's a precious place to reminisce about the Showa era. I experienced the lady's kindness.
View on GoogleMmm, this is it. Just the flavor I imagined. I guess you'd call it light Tokyo ramen, a chicken-bone shoyu ramen. The ramen you want on a hungover morning. But the chashu is thicker than I imagined. 900円 for half fried rice and ramen—this price, this flavor! The fried rice is moist, rather than the trendy kind with separate grains. But that's exactly what's good about it. Because it's cheap. By the way, the chashu in the fried rice is plump and delicious too. Neighborhood Chinese food, a place for ordinary people to unwind. Next time I'd like to order gyoza and beer too.
