I had an occasion to stay in 鮫洲, so I looked for somewhere to have dinner and found this place. The large cutlet was the deciding factor. The frontage is narrow, but inside it's quite spacious, with a long counter. More strikingly, there are so many aquariums that I wondered whether it was a kappo restaurant. Though the fish swimming in them are giant tropical fish. It was nice to be given a packaged hand towel after sitting down. I ordered 上ロース定食, which had gone up to 1350円. The food arrived after a while. A little dark in color, perhaps. As I'd heard beforehand, it was big. Plenty of cabbage too. I added sauce and took a bite. The thin coating was crisp, and the meat was certainly tasty. The rice was good too.
View on GoogleI stopped in for lunch on my way back from renewing my driver's license. From outside the shopfront looked small, so I thought it might be cramped, but only the entrance was small. The interior was quite spacious, with a tatami area at the back large enough for a banquet. Several aquariums are installed inside, so you can admire various fish. The menu had a set called 「エビ一本と半ひれかつ定食」, but I didn't want just half a fillet cutlet, so I ordered 「ひれかつ定食」 and a separate 「エビフライ」. I felt a little regret when I saw the ひれかつ定食 arrive. Huge!! The half-fillet set might have been enough… Then the エビフライ arrived, and that was huge too!! This was a complete ordering mistake. Still, the fillet cutlet was just tender enough and very delicious. The fried shrimp's coating was a little thick, but it had a wonderfully springy texture and was satisfying to eat. The set includes 豚汁 as its soup, making it feel like excellent value. The tonkatsu, fried shrimp, and 豚汁 were all delicious, so I finished everything without difficulty.
View on GoogleA tonkatsu restaurant with a narrow frontage but more space inside than expected. We stopped by as a family for dinner and a light drink. There are snack dishes besides tonkatsu, and despite it being nearly closing time, everything was carefully served. We ordered 一口ひれカツ and 上ロースカツ, among other things. Their slightly dark fried appearance was distinctive, and they were crisp and went well with alcohol. Fairly large fish swim in aquariums here and there inside, but apparently they're ornamental.
View on GoogleThe tonkatsu place 『とん八』 near my office. For aaages, it's had that dimly lit feel when you walk in. A homey place run by a husband and wife. At first glance the tonkatsu makes you think, “So dark,” but the thin coating doesn't sit heavily and is delicious. The coating looks unlike any other, but the fillet meat is tender, and it's light despite being tonkatsu—good! The sauce is unusual and tasty too ^^ It's delicious with salt as well ♪
View on GoogleDuring my walking trip along 東海道, I found this place in a shopping street near 鮫洲, on the edge of 品川宿 along 旧東海道. I happened to reach it around lunchtime, so I dropped in. Eating at unfamiliar places is one of the pleasures of traveling. The frontage is narrow, but inside is an L-shaped counter stretching toward the back. The sign outside said 「サービスランチ ロースかつ定食850円」, so I ordered that. Since it was right at lunchtime, customers who seemed to be neighborhood regulars kept arriving, filling a fair number of seats. It may be quite popular. As for the set meal, the tonkatsu was quite dark ^^; But on tasting it, it didn't seem overfried. Since it's a lunch special, the meat is fairly thin with a slightly thick coating, but it's still perfectly tasty. The miso soup had a lovely stock flavor. The pickles came with a little soy sauce already added. I thought the quality was quite sufficient for lunch. Thank you for the meal.
