A nostalgic udon shop. The flavor is nostalgic, too—delicious, chewy Sanuki udon. There are various set meals as well as udon. The yakisoba and Napolitan are also recommended. There's a distinctive, slightly tobacco-like smell inside, so people sensitive to smells might find it noticeable.
View on GoogleVisited around 19:00 on a Sunday in early March 25. Nearly all the seats were occupied; it was bustling. The atmosphere felt more like a gathering place for elderly people than an udon shop. We ordered tenzaru and kitsune udon. They arrived after about 25 minutes. The udon is wonderfully firm and chewy. The tempura, mainly vegetables, was piled high on the plate! Very much to my taste! With the leisurely pace and indoor smoking allowed, opinions may vary depending on your preferences and needs, but the udon scored highly for me!
View on GoogleUdon for connoisseurs. Cold tempura, 800 yen. The noodles aren't thick, but focus on firmness, almost as if they have a solid core. Satisfying to eat. The dipping broth is very light, an advanced-level flavor. Various vegetable tempura with tomato and cucumber—simple and healthy. At 4:30 on Sunday afternoon, struggling to find food, I spotted a Sanuki curtain in a back alley. Inside, a seasoned couple were in the middle of a full-blown argument, both completely drunk—what a close pair. Boat racing on BS television. With no other orders, service took 20 minutes. It feels like a laid-back local izakaya that happens to do udon. Not a bad place to wander into.
View on GoogleI honestly thought it was delicious. But since this place is run with an old-fashioned mindset, you should overlook the smoking and hygiene. I ended up here looking for something gentle on my stomach while recovering from illness, and was impressed to get something much better than the price suggested.
View on GoogleI never expected an udon shop to allow smoking. It was nearly full, people around me were smoking, and the room became smoky, so all I could think about was leaving quickly. I couldn't enjoy the udon under those conditions, but the kakiage had lots of onion and was quite hefty. I think it's a good place for smokers, so 2 stars.
