I came here twice for breakfast during my stay in the area, as it was right in front of my accomodations. The food portions are just right and are quite inexpensive, costing less than $4 for a meal set. Taste wise it's decent, above average quality. The boss is quite nice and is friendly. You can tell when a local comes in, because they already prepay for their meal and he knows what they want. Definitely a good option for breakfast or lunch if you're in the area.
View on GoogleIt was my first time eating soba in Japan. It tasted really good. The price was very reasonable. I have been back many times. They are very friendly.
View on GoogleFood: Chikuwa Soba (ちくわそば) The place quite small but so comfy and the staff also friendly. The soup is hot, taste so light and refreshing, the soba texture is good and not soggy. Got a good slurp here!
View on GoogleA little bit oldfashioned Japanese restaurant well frequented in the shopping street with good food
View on GoogleThe advantage of this shop is that it's open from early morning. An elderly man who is a bit hard of hearing was running the kitchen. I had to order again in a loud voice, "Shungiku tempura and red ginger tempura soba!!!" lol The soba lacks flavor and can't be called good. The tempura is also dominated by the taste of the batter, overpowering the actual ingredients. The broth is clearly made with a lot of sugar instead of mirin, making it very sweet. I really couldn't drink it. I came here because other reviews said it was decent, but I won't be back. Other than "open early" and "the old man is trying his best," I wouldn't go here unless I knew them. I'll add +☆1 for his effort.
