Mum and I were keen for lunch after visiting the Tokyo City Flea Market on a Saturday. We got there at about 1.25pm and thankfully they were still accepting customers. And more importantly, glad that there was seating. There are about 5 counter seats and approximately 12-15 table seats! Truly a quaint little shop run by a couple who looked to have been running the shop for a long time. The menus were all in Japanese so I basically looked up photos to order. I had the prawn tempura soba noodles and mum had the chicken katsu Don - I think there was curry with this. Memorable meal after a great day at the flea market 😉
View on GoogleIt looks a bit run-down from the outside, but once you step in, it feels like the best kind of Showa-era spot. Super cozy and nostalgic. The cold tororo soba is my go-to. The tempura is crispy, the portions are generous, and the prices are surprisingly super affordable. It’s run by a sweet elderly couple, which makes the place even more special. I really love this spot — a true neighborhood gem. I always come here when I visit TKY Flea-market.
View on GoogleDelicious soba and tempura, and very cheap The noodles and the fried calamar were both fresh and delicious, I would love to have it again English speakers : there's no English menu, and you won't be able to use Google translate either because the dishes' names are written in calligraphy and the app doesn't recognize them If you don't speak Japanese, your best bet is to look at the pictures other people have posted here and ask for one you think you'll like They'll ask you a question afterwards (atatametai ka tsumetai ka) it means hot or cold The owners are elderly and I doubt they speak English at all I'd only had soba one time before and didn't like it, but it was too hot to eat anything warm so I tried anyway, and I'm so glad, it was nothing like the first one I got (elsewhere). Great experience.
View on GoogleSuch great little cold soba and udon place ran by an elderly couple. The cold udon texture was slightly al dente and perfectly complements lightly battered, sizable ebi tempura. So good we ordered seconds.
View on GoogleSoooo yummy! Cash only. Ran by an old couple that only speak Japanese. Cold soba w fish tempura was a moveeeee
