Japanees special gourmet. All the Japanese menu with recipes of family tradition of more than 50 years. Very particular and of appetizing flavor. More than recommended. And confortable price!!!

View on Google[June 2024 Visit] On Tabelog, this place is listed as "Kappa-tei," while on Google Maps it's "Hitokura to Kappa." Looking at the sign, "Hitokura to Kappa" seems correct. However, looking at old photos on Tabelog, the "Kappa-tei" sign also appears, so they might have changed the name at some point. Curious, I looked it up and it seems to be a long-established kappo restaurant that has been in business for about 50 years. I initially wanted to go for lunch, but since they are only open on weekdays, I couldn't visit, so I went at night. Visited on a weekday night before 7:00 PM. I didn't have a reservation, but luckily I was able to get a seat at the counter without waiting. After that, some regulars started trickling in. Anyway, I ordered a beer, ・Sapporo Lager (medium bottle) 715 yen. Just for bottled beer, there are 3 types: "Asahi Super Dry," "Sapporo Lager," and "Kirin Lager," which was reassuring as it meets every need. I'm a Sapporo fan, so I'm happy they have it. While wetting my mouth with beer, I looked at the menu. There are so many dishes that I was lost. There's fish like sashimi, grilled, and simmered, as well as skewers, fried foods, vinegared dishes, delicacies, meals, noodles, and even Unaju (eel). It seems you can enjoy fugu if you reserve, so it seems you can enjoy all kinds of Japanese food. Following my curiosity, I ordered: ・Sashimi 3-piece platter from 1980 yen ・Skewer set 7 pieces 1870 yen ・American eggplant fried with grated daikon 990 yen and so on. In the middle, I wanted sake, ・Ichinokura (cold sake) 1 go 935 yen I also ordered that. As an appetizer, something like an assortment of appetizers appeared. Vinegared dishes, dashi rolled omelet, shellfish, corn, etc. It's very nice to have them served little by little. I especially liked the dashi rolled omelet, it was an appetizer that raised my expectations. The "Sashimi 3-piece platter" came with tuna, flounder, and octopus. It was more than enough volume for one person, and it was a platter that completely satisfied my sashimi craving. I also enjoyed the sashimi garnish, including the myoga. Next, something like "clear soup" appeared. It contained fish scraps, and I heard it was flathead (kochi). This broth was very high quality, is this the power of the kochi? At this point, I realized this is not an izakaya, but a kappo restaurant. "American eggplant fried with grated daikon" appeared on a large plate with plenty of grated daikon. As I was eating my favorite eggplant with plenty of grated daikon, the staff advised me that even the skin is edible, so I finished everything except the stem. Not only could I have this large eggplant all to myself, but the broth was delicious, so my happiness increased with every bite. In the middle, I switched to "Ichinokura." I don't know much about sake, but I think sake is perfect for Japanese food. The "Skewer set 7 pieces" appeared in two parts, 3 and 4 pieces. The first 3 were "tsukune" (chicken meatballs), "skin," and "gizzard." I enjoyed them with sake, like the "tsukune" that is fluffy but still has texture, and the "skin" that is chewy and tasty with fat. The latter 4 were "shiitake mushroom," "chicken," "tomato roll," and "chicken wing." It was quite a spectacular skewer set, and I was told to be careful because the "tomato roll" is very hot. As advised, I enjoyed the hot "tomato roll," the rich-tasting "shiitake mushroom," and the "chicken" and "chicken wing" that satisfied my yakitori craving, and I was satisfied including the volume. There aren't that many items, but because each volume is solid, I was completely full that day. I was alone that day, but if there were two or more people, it seems you could enjoy more dishes. Because the broth is delicious, nothing you eat will be a miss. I see, there's a reason why it lasts so long. It was a long-established kappo restaurant, a famous shop in Nishikoyama. Thank you for the meal.
View on Google[A wonderful lunch at a charming, long-established kappo restaurant] The restaurant I happened to find while walking around was very good! It is a long-established kappo restaurant run for generations, and it has a great atmosphere. I entered with trepidation, but was welcomed in a friendly manner. At lunchtime on a weekday, I was the only customer. I had the fried oyster set meal at the counter. How delicious the fried oysters, carefully fried right in front of me, were... I'm a huge fan of fried oysters, and I want to come eat this every season. Are the Worcestershire sauce and dressing homemade too? Anyway, the work is careful and feels delicate. It seems like it would be appreciated if I brought foreign tourists here. I'm a non-drinker, but they told me it's fine to come at night without worrying about alcohol, so if I have the chance, I'd love to go. Thank you for the meal!
View on GoogleA truly good traditional Japanese restaurant is a shop like this Tokyo, Shinagawa-ku, Nishikoyama "Hitokura to Kappa" The exterior of the shop is amazing. Even inside it's wonderful, and it's a series of surprises. It's rare to find such a luxurious, purely Japanese-style shop that is compact. It should be a shop with some history, but the new hinoki counter is extraordinary. The tea I was served first was the best I've ever had, and I was shocked. Even the tea is not ordinary. I was worried about what to order, but I ordered the tempura set meal, which should be troublesome. It was better than usual and I was shocked by how cheap it was. I thought tempura was the main attraction, but the spinach with sesame was abnormally delicious. Such a series of shocks rarely happens. No matter how you think about it, it's cheap, and the various levels are very high. Service and attention are abnormally good for a high-class kappo restaurant. For such a shop, in my opinion, omakase is the best. Sometimes they have valuable high-class fish. This is a precious, top-tier shop that I think almost no one knows about.
