I stopped by for lunch. The owner runs everything on his own. I actually wanted to order katsudon, but customers were coming in at a steady pace and he seemed busy, so I went with soba. The air conditioning was not working very well either, and I thought eating something hot would make me sweat quite a bit, so I chose hiyashi kitsune. I think it is good for a quick lunch.

View on GoogleA soba restaurant in the Kitashinagawa shopping street. Given the location, I thought they might serve good soba, so I went in, only to be told, "Sorry. We are finished for the day." It was around 14時, and there were several customers inside. On top of that, the noren curtain was clearly still hanging outside. I went in because the noren was out. A noren being out means "open for business"; that is the most basic principle. I question whether they understand the basics of running a business. This is an issue before we even get to the taste. Looking at other people's reviews too, you can imagine what the food at a place like this tastes like. I have absolutely zero intention of returning. Because of this restaurant, my impression of Shinagawa as a whole is extremely bad.
View on GoogleThe taste and portions do not stand out for a soba restaurant, but neither are they bad enough to count against it. If anything, the food is good. I like the restaurant's calm, old-fashioned atmosphere, so that adds to my rating. (Some people might call it dated, and perhaps jump straight from dated to dirty.)
View on GoogleI went in hoping to enjoy a daytime drink and asked, "Do you have anything like snacks to go with drinks?" They flatly replied, "We do not do that sort of thing." Surely they would at least have kamaboko??.
