I am a regular customer at Dean & Deluca but I am often dissatisfied by the qualities of the food, especially when paying a relatively high price. This time, I got a summer berries cake, a chicken salad, whole wheat bread and a coffee. First once I opened my lunch in the office, I noticed the staff forgot to put any cutlery for the salad. Secondly, when I got to the dessert and bite into the cake, I noticed the strange flavour of the crumble crusting. Some parts were so salty it was not possible to eat and I had to throw it away. I assume the cook mistakenly used salt instead of sugar… could that be possible? After spending around ¥3,500 for a lunch meal I am very disappointed and will consider it before going there again. The attached photo is from their website but it shows the inedible pastry.

The staff and location is really lovely. But the food really disappointed me. I ordered the buttermilk chicken burger and the chicken was still raw in the middle and the tomatoes tasted like raw egg white as well. The bakery is great but I got stomach problems afterwards because of the chicken.

The main reason I end up at Dean & Deluca is because every other restaurant in the mall is full. Somehow, D&D always seems to have a few seats available. In the end, I usually grab a coffee here instead.

I visited because I love the DEAN & DELUCA in 大井町トラックス. I've always liked DEAN & DELUCA, and I've visited various locations over the years, but the many sweets and foods filling the shelves still excite me no matter how many times I see them. Just looking is fun, and there's a charm that makes me linger without realizing it. A nice feature of this 大井町トラックス location is its café space where you can eat in. Being able to enjoy what you've bought right there is very appealing. Drinks are only offered in size M, but there's a substantial amount, so they're satisfying. As for the deli items, they aren't sold by weight; everything is sold in packs. Personally, I also like being able to choose the amount I want, so I felt that having that option in the future would offer even more ways to enjoy it. On the other hand, the selection of prepared dishes and bread is very extensive, and it felt more varied than the Nagoya location I previously visited. The cake display case is a little farther away, and you can enjoy the cakes you choose there in the café space. It's easy to use, like the other locations. The varieties themselves don't seem very different, but with limited-time products and cakes from various patisseries on display, there's something new to enjoy each time you visit. I was also very impressed that the staff carefully explained the products even while they were busy. Their earnest effort came through, and I had a pleasant shopping experience. Good access and being easy to drop by are also part of its appeal. While I felt a staffed deli counter would make it even more appealing, it was still a lovely location I'd like to visit again.

2026/7/2(Thu). Around 18:30. After work. DONQ released a new flavor of melon pan ice cream starting in July, and I wanted to buy some to stock in my freezer before it sold out nationwide, so I dashed to Oimachi after work. After that, I thought I'd go buy a pastry I'd been curious about at DEAN&DELUCA in Shinagawa Station, which I'd also visited last night, but then remembered, "Come to think of it, wasn't there a DEAN&DELUCA in 大井町トラックス too?" Since I was already there, I figured I'd try buying it at the Oimachi location〜, and headed straight into the shop. It might be the time of day, but it seemed less crowded than Shinagawa Station (around 19:30 on Wednesday). The pastry shelves are probably larger than those at Shinagawa Station, but the fresh cake display case is smaller. If you're after baked pastries, Oimachi might be better; if you're after fresh Western-style cakes, Shinagawa Station might be better. Incidentally, you can earn JRE points at both locations. I bought the following 3 items. Prices exclude tax. Carry bags cost extra. ・バナナパンケーキ 430円 ・マンゴーアールグレイベイクドケーキ 450円 ・レモンポピーシードケーキ 420円 ▼Tasting report▼ When I asked the staff, they said all of them could be eaten at room temperature, but the lemon cake tasted better chilled and the banana and mango cakes tasted better warmed, so I chilled the lemon cake in the fridge and warmed the banana and mango cakes in the toaster for just under 2 minutes, then microwaved them at 500W for 20 seconds before eating. ・バナナパンケーキ The texture is hard to describe: a little dry and crumbly but moderately moist, not exactly fluffy but not heavy either, like a cross between a hotcake and a dry bread dough, with restrained sweetness. The sticky banana topping is very sweet, so it balances nicely. ・マンゴーアールグレイベイクドケーキ Moist and fairly dense, it feels like a pound cake. Eating just the cake, you can faintly detect the flavor of tea leaves. Eating it with the big chunk of sticky mango on top brings out the tropical sweetness in full. The cake also uses plenty of mango, so it's quite sweet overall. ・レモンポピーシードケーキ A tightly packed, dense cake. Near the icing, which has a pleasantly crunchy, grainy bite, the cake is moist and dense, with pronounced sweetness and refreshing lemon tartness. Farther down, it becomes dense and crumbly, less sweet, and plain in flavor. The cake contains poppy seeds, so the subtle little pops wherever you bite are fun. The lemon pound cake and banana cake are ordinary since there are many competitors, but the マンゴーアールグレイベイクドケーキ had an unusual flavor combination and a fresh taste, so I can recommend it. ▲▲▲ DEAN&DELUCA has plenty of high-calorie, sweet and delicious pastries, and I'm grateful it's in both Shinagawa and Oimachi with easy access. I'm starting to get curious about the matcha scone too, and I want to try the fresh Western-style cakes, so I'll come back to hunt them down. Thanks for today's meal too^↫^ψ
