Simply put, amazing. English menu, Japanese hospitality, incredible food. I wish I lived near here. I would be here 5 times a week, easily.

Akaneko Sakaba is located about 5 minutes from Kita-Shinagawa Station. I previously bought a bento from the take-out shop across the street, and it was so delicious that I decided to visit the restaurant. Upon entering, I was excited to see a menu full of my favorite Okinawa-themed dishes. They have all the standard Okinawa cuisine like umibudo, shima rakkyo, goya champuru, and aosa soba. The owner is apparently an Okinawa enthusiast. Honestly, many Okinawa restaurants in Tokyo don't taste quite like the real thing, but here, every dish made me think, "This is it!" They mentioned that all the vegetables are sourced directly from Okinawa, and I could tell this is a place run with passion by someone who truly loves the region. Honestly, I don't want this place to get too crowded, but since there are few reviews and I want them to do well, I decided to post this. I was very satisfied. I will definitely go again.

The seasoning goes perfectly with alcohol, and everything you order is delicious! There are so many interesting menu items that you're bound to have trouble choosing! The food is basically Okinawa-style, and the drink menu even includes things like sanpin-cha. The shop has few seats and fills up quickly. The portion size for each dish is generous and very satisfying. With such a wide variety of menu items, they have everything from snacks that go well with drinks to full meals for dinner and dishes to finish off your night. The kushinikomi (stewed skewers) seems popular and was sold out that day, so I want to come back earlier next time to try it.

I visited because it was cold and I wanted some nikomi! They also have a take-out only nikomi shop across the street, and I've been curious about it every time I pass by! The staff were very warm; they turned on the heater when they saw I was cold and were very attentive. The food was voluminous and delicious, making this the best place for someone like me who loves Okinawa cuisine! If you're in the area, please give it a try!
