Relaxed eatery in Shibuya Stream serving paella & other Spanish fare in an industrial-chic space.

【1 minute on foot from Shibuya Station’s New South Exit】「XIRINGUITO Escribà」, a seafood restaurant serving Barcelona’s most delicious paella and loved by locals for more than 25 years, makes its first appearance in Shibuya, Tokyo. To recreate the flavors of its home country, it uses domestically grown “Valencia rice,” characterized by low moisture content and firmness. Cooking it over direct heat for 17 minutes allows the concentrated broth from seafood, chicken, vegetables, and other ingredients to penetrate every grain of rice, carefully and patiently finishing the dish. XIRINGUITO means “beach house” in Spanish, and true to that meaning, its open-feeling interior offers paella and crispy bread topped generously with cured ham from Spanish Iberico pork…

recently visited XIRINGUITO Escribà Shibuya on the 3rd floor of Shibuya Stream, and it was a phenomenal experience from start to finish. Having visited their famous location in Barcelona, I can confidently say they have brought the authentic taste of Spain to Tokyo without losing an ounce of quality . The Atmosphere: The moment you walk in, you are greeted by a stunning interior dominated by refreshing blues and marble tables, perfectly mimicking a beachfront "Chiringuito" . Despite being in a bustling commercial complex, the space feels open, stylish, and incredibly comfortable, with large windows letting in beautiful natural light during the day . The Food (Absolutely Incredible): This is what a 5-star meal looks like. We opted for the course menu to get the full experience, and every dish was a hit.

This restaurant has been on my list for a while. I eventually got to try it on a Saturday night. I am suprised I can make a reservation on the very same day. I ordrered their signature course. Everything is good, though nothing really stands out. Paella I took some time to cook but the portion is not big enough; I guess it’s the small one. Next time I would try the medium or even large.

A casual upscale Spanish paella restaurant on the upper floor of Shibuya stream. We had the Patata Bravas which were good and the chips & guac. The chips we felt could have been better and the guac was tiny. The Paella however made up for it, we had the squid ink paella and it was delicious. They also provide a lunch combo but we felt it was a bit too much on the price and the portion. Our total bill came to around JPY 4000 for both of us, which is not bad considering the quality of the meal. The Sangria Blanco paired well with the squid ink paella and overall we enjoyed our lunch. The staff are courteous and welcoming and are flexible with requests.

This restaurant focuses on authentic paella, which is flavorful and satisfying. However, the appetizer portions in the course meal are quite small. Service needs improvement—you often have to wait a long time to get the staff’s attention. The paella itself is good, but the overall experience would be much better with more attentive service.

Nice casual lunch , wallet friendly. But, in terms of authenticity, not at all. Paella is difficult to have it come out right and Tokyo has improved the quality of paellas, in general, but far from what it ought to be. Profitting from general ignorance, the paellas and Spanish dishes here probably does okay. That said, it’s a nice casual gathering place for a chit chat and good time. I enjoyed my time there…. And Shibuya …. Not the best location but considering the location, it’s good.
