KUUYA served the most unique food I had during my stay in Tokyo. At first I was a little overwhelmed by the menu, but the staff guided me through it with great recommendations and cooked everything right in front of us, making the experience both interactive and memorable. On my first visit, the server suggested the Spicy Caviar Monja with mochi, and it was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed it so much that I came back the next day with my son. We ordered the okonomiyaki, Wagyu mushroom monja, and grilled squid—every dish was outstanding. One thing to keep in mind: because everything is cooked at your table, you’ll probably leave smelling like the restaurant. For us, it was a small price to pay for such an authentic and unforgettable Tokyo dining experience. Highly recommended!
View on GoogleWhat a fantastic experience! We tried both the monjayaki and okonomiyaki, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The staff cooked everything for us right on the grill at our table, which made the meal even more fun and authentic. The service was friendly, the prices were very reasonable, and the quality of the food was excellent. We had such a great time and would definitely come back. A special shout out to Azka who was our server and did a fantastic job at making us feel welcome and taken care of :) Highly recommend if you’re looking to try authentic monjayaki and okonomiyaki!
View on GoogleWe had an awesome first experience at Tsukishima Monja Kuuya Shibuya! The food is so delicious and it is genuine authentic japanese Monja! At each table, there is a hot plate where a personal chef comes to make your food for you and they explain each dish. I would highly recommend the kim chee and pork belly monja with cheese, and the special mentaiko and mochi monja with cheese. The best part of the experience was our young chef Kaito! He was very fun and entertaining and the best Monja maker! If you want the best Monja experience in Shibuya, go and eat at Tsukishima Monja and ask for Kaito-san!!!
View on GoogleWe’ve never had monjayaki before and were admittedly a bit reluctant, I decided to try this based on the reviews and I am so glad we did!! We had the Mentaiko Mochi Monja with cheese and pork added, and it was delicious. My seven year-old who normally only finishes a dessert plate ate every bit of her meal plus some of mine. The built-in show provided by them cooking it directly at your table is an added bonus. Also, the jasmine tea is absolutely lovely.
View on GoogleTsukishima Monja Kuuya Shibuya was unfortunately not really worth the hype for me. The monjayaki feels very local and authentic, but the flavors were quite salty while somehow still a little tasteless for my preference. The biggest issue was the overall experience. There was a very long queue, and after getting a table, we still had to spend quite a lot of time waiting for the staff to come and help cook the monja. There is also an additional evening charge of around ¥400 per person. Interesting to try once for the local experience, but considering the waiting time, extra charge, and taste, I probably wouldn’t come back.
