I stumbled upon Chicken Dishes Shimizu while exploring Shibuya, and it turned out to be the highlight of my trip to Japan! The moment I walked in, the cozy, welcoming vibe and the aroma of sizzling chicken made my mouth water. I ordered the signature oyakodon and the fried chicken set — both were cooked to perfection. The chicken was incredibly juicy, tender, and packed with deep, savory flavor. The egg in the oyakodon was silky smooth, and the seasoning was balanced just right. The crispy karaage was light, crunchy, and not greasy at all. The staff was super friendly and even helped explain the menu in English. Portions were generous, prices reasonable for Shibuya, and the quality was top-notch. If you love chicken dishes — don’t miss this place. I’m already dreaming of going back!
View on GoogleOur waiter was probably the nicest most patient and accommodating we had in Tokyo. He explained the menu, suggested that we each get different sets so that we could try both types. Took care to explain everything he was preparing and what we were going to be eating. We had the bone in fried chicken and shabu with the add on rice at the end. Would recommend everything. English menu is 1:1 with Japanese. No need to Google translate the Japanese menu looking for things.
View on GoogleGorgeous oyakodon with the block of egg! But i didn't like the herbs. Nonetheless it tasted great and the soup they served was good too. Their menu offering is quite limited, but chicken is their expertise. Overall great value for the price.
View on GoogleChicken was overall a bit bland and not amazing. Price was a bit on higher side, and also had many rules (one drink per person, 550 charge for each person not getting hotpot, etc)
View on GoogleAfter a couple of days of Wagyu & Ramen & Sushi, this is the perfect place to rest my very-Asian stomach. Pure chicken stock shabu-shabu with quality chicken meat and tasty appetizers, I can’t ask for more.
