I went to a Thai Isan restaurant in front of Shinsen Station that I’d been curious about. Since I arrived just after 11:30, there was only one other party there. There weren’t many lunch options, so after narrowing down my choices from the menu, I ordered Khao Man Gai for the first time in several years. If you eat in, it comes with a salad and soup. It arrived in about five minutes. The aluminum plate and aluminum cutlery give it a nice Thai vibe. There were two types of dipping sauces. Personally, I prefer the one with nuts, but having two options means you don’t get bored! The one on the left is pretty sweet, so I’m guessing it’s loaded with sugar—lol. The rice is cooked in chicken oil, so it has a rich flavor, and I think the portion size would be quite substantial for women. The soup was a bit on the rich side and delicious. I’m curious about the Ga Pao, which is listed as a “classic,” and I also haven’t had green curry in a while, so I’d like to try that too—I’ll definitely be back. They have a takeout counter, too, which is kind of cute. I was able to use PayPay. Thanks for the meal!

A tiny, but busy Thai restaurant tucked in one of the many backstreets of Shibuya, Thai Moran offers six different lunch sets for those with a little rumbly in the tumbly. The green curry is thick and creamy filled with chunks of chicken and eggplant. The gapao is flavorful and perfectly ground, not too small, with a pleasant spice level. From my perspective, all of the food was good, just not great. Since I’ve had friends rave about this place, I’m curious if I came at night, instead of the lunch rush, would it be better?

This may be my new favorite Thai place in Tokyo. I heard this place was associated with a Thai restaurant in Jiyugaoka that shut down, so I was curious since that place was really authentic. And Thai Moran did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and delicious, with the green curry, pad ga prao, glass noodles, and pork larb being the real winners. Take your pick of Thai beers and slip back to the streets of Bangkok with the authentic tables and chairs typically seen in Thailand. Staff was friendly and service fast. I’ll make this my go-to Thai place from now on.

Thai authentic food in small plates. It is best to order a lot then share. The grilled pork and chicken will take 15-20min, so make sure you order two from the beginning! It’s located just right next to Shinsen Station. Walking from Shibuya Station takes around 15min.

Come here for the first time for lunch. Krapao isn’t spice as expected. Hope you could add some lovely sweet dish to lunch set. Staffs are nice. Easy to go in!
