This is authentic, accessible heat. Located on the 3rd floor of the high-end Omotesando Hills, this spot maintains a simple, approachable atmosphere despite its luxury surroundings. I skipped their famous Mapo noodles for this visit. Not just because of the heat, but because I wasn't in the mood for the "tofu and cheese" combination, which felt a bit too experimental for me that day. Maybe next time! Instead, I went with the Dan Dan noodles at medium spiciness. It was perfect for my taste: it delivered that addictive Sichuan numbing sensation (Mala) without being overwhelming. It’s a great choice if you want traditional flavors done well. Also, a special mention for the beer! It was the perfect "fire extinguisher" for the spice. Highly recommended for a satisfying, reasonably priced meal in Omotesando.

They really have the numbness feeling down when you eat the mabo ramen. I felt it was a bit overwhelming and took away from tasting anything else. It's an experience to have your mouth numb from the spices, but it stays that way even after drinking water and when you leave. Nice to try once, but I wouldn't make it my 1st choice.

I’ve visited the Shibuya location twice — once three years ago and again this year — and I’m happy to say the food remains just as amazing. The mabo tofu ramen is rich, mouth-numbing, and consistently delicious, with the same addictive mala flavor that made me fall in love with this restaurant years ago. Service has always been consistent, and the quality never disappoints. I highly recommend adding extra cilantro and asking for extra spice and extra numbing to experience it at its best. After all these years, Shibire Noodles still stands out as one of my all-time favorite restaurants in Japan.

A soba shop serving delicious numbing chili pepper noodles. We tried both the Sichuan style sesame hot dry noodle and the mapo noodle. I personally prefer the latter as it has a higher spice and numbing level.

I decided to go for something not tourist popular restaurants as I’m trying to avoid queuing for 30 mins. Lucky I found this place at Omotesando. I didn’t expect that it’s going to be this good. I ordered Mapo Tofu noodle within coriander and add extra onion. Spicy level 2 (super numb already) It turns out to be so delicious. Mapo tofu noodle come with mince pork is quite big portion. I will be able to share with my girlfriend but as I came alone I can’t finished it. But it’s ok ! I think it’s really suitable for who like to go for Mala hotpot but don’t have friend to go with that day so this is a very good option. I love it and I will surely bring my husband to try this noodle when we are in Tokyo again. Thank you for the food. 🙏🏼
