I actually came here for the briyani, but they only make it on Friday and Saturday. I’ll come back for it. What I did end up getting was the chicken tikka masala and cheese naan, and they were both fantastic. The cheese naan was maybe the best I’ve had, and the masala was creamy and delicious. The guys working were very nice and accommodating, and even threw in a free lassi. Definitely stop by.

Sometimes One craves for food from own nation while being overwhelmed by Japan. I think everyone relates to this feeling. And if you are Indian and in Shinjuku and crave for Indian cuisine, please come to Potohar and probably sit outside under the beautiful lights. Relish on Kadhai Chicken (personal favourite) and crispy tandoori rotis and you would be immediately satisified. The food here tastes distinct from homeland. It is a perfect blend of Indian cuisine but cooked in Pakistani style which makes it better honestly. And if you are like me, then maybe have a cup of hot chai also. Everything was so good that eventually ended up coming twice. Thank you ❤️

I’ve eaten at probably 50 or more south asian places whilst living in japan and this one is by far the best I’ve had. The cheese naan was as amazing as Japanese Indian food gets, the mutton was so tender, and the owner is such a kind soul. I recommend whether ur a traveler or a local.

I was lucky that I reached Shinjuku station at 10.30 and looked for Indian restaurants to find Potohar because this place was amazing especially in terms of the fact that biriyani and chilli paneer was the most delicious and authentic I have had in the 2 months I have lived in Japan! Perfectly flavoured biriyani and tangy spicy paneer and the host was very kind and almost refused to take the change! Much recommended by an Indian traveler in Japan for others looking for very tasty authentic Indian food!

Was on the hunt for authentic Indian food in the Tokyo Metropolitan area when this place caught my eye — quite literally. The Indian flag displayed 🇮🇳🇮🇳 proudly on the board outside was impossible to miss, and curiosity pulled me right in. The ambience is small, cozy, and welcoming. The staff and chef greeted us warmly the moment we stepped inside — exactly the kind of hospitality you'd hope for in a foreign land. An interesting discovery: while the restaurant presents itself with an Indian identity, the team behind it is actually from Pakistan. It is quite common to see Pakistani people leveraging the Indian brand and identity to establish themselves in international markets — and this place is a classic example of that. I ordered Roti and Dal, simple yet comforting, and it hit just the right spot. The owner also surprised me with a special complimentary tea — a lovely personal touch that made the experience even more memorable. The food was delicious and deeply satisfying, and everything you'd crave when Indian food is hard to come by in Tokyo. What struck me most was the warmth between people. Thousands of miles away from home, watching Indians and Pakistanis greet each other with genuine cordiality was a heartwarming reminder that borders shrink beautifully when you're far from home. A must-visit for anyone missing the taste of the subcontinent in Tokyo. The food speaks a language that needs no passport. 🍛✨
