playful and bold, yet comforting. as good as it was, the dry curry was not my number one thing on the plate. it was flavourful if the spices were somewhat muted and indistinct. the fried chicken and daikon curry was, to my surprise, spectacular. the balance of sweetness and acidity was on point, stimulating your appetite with every bite and never to bore you. the chicken was tender and the daikon was flavourful. both curries weren't very spicy, but that's nothing that the provided garam masala and chili sauce(?) can't solve. fukujinzuke and pickled cucumbers were also available, but i didn't feel the need either of them. both mom and pop were very pleasant and willing to chat. the lady asked if i needed any help with the menu, so perhaps there's an English menu available? my order was served really quickly. prices were reasonable for the price point. counter seating is probably the way to go — the kitchen was in full view and it felt more intimate. clean but not upscale, which is nice. grade A-: very good. a mom-and-pop diner, pakupaku morimori serves delightful curry and friendship readily. their curry is solid and service is quick, perfect for a lunch break. i can say with confidence that this is a place worth trying and that i can see myself returning to.

Easily best Japanese curry I've had and one of the best meals overall in Japan. It's a special type with a paste curry and the more traditional soup curry. The owners were so friendly and willing to help. Also they have an English menu so I highly recommend people go and support a mom and pop shop in the middle of Shibuya.

A random encounter post our mega donki visit brought us to this restaurant located at the basement of an old building. A cosy place ran by a couple, this modest restaurant's main was just Japanese curry. The dish came with dry curry sitting atop a bed of Japanese rice, surrounded by a generous moat of wet curry. That's the base. We chose to top ours with sausage & potatoes for one, and fried chicken for another. We polished both plates; I'm not a fan of rice. Everything was delicious, with the right amount of heat and toppings for every spoonful of rice. I had to try that spicy condiment that came with a death symbol to test my spice threshold, and boy was I glad that I only took a few drops.

Small quaint family owned curry restaurant where the service is impeccable and friendly. They serve a uniquely different type of Japanese curry (both normal and dry), with a hint of banana in it.
