I’ve visited Luke’s Lobster Shinjuku before and had really good memories of it, so I was genuinely looking forward to coming back. This time, I noticed there was no line at all, which felt quite different from how popular it used to be. After trying it again, I can understand that things may have changed. The bread is different now—much harder and not as soft or buttery as I remember. It slightly takes away from the overall experience, especially since the roll used to be one of the highlights. That said, the lobster itself is still good, and I can see the effort in maintaining the quality. It just doesn’t feel as special as it once did, which is a bit of a pity considering how much I enjoyed it before. I understand that things evolve over time, and I truly hope they can bring back the consistency that made this place stand out. It’s still a decent option if you’re nearby, but for me, it’s more about the memories of how great it used to be.
View on GoogleThe place has nearly no air conditioning on the second floor, and you can smell the smoke/smell from the kitchen. The heat makes me worry about the hygiene situation for this restaurant. The staff were not in the best mood, it feels like they are not paid enough for the job. I would expect more for a place averages at 4000 jpy per person. Lobster and crab, portion wise it’s okay but it tasted like pulled out directly from fridge, tasted sort of plastic.. on the contrary, the bread was nicely baked. Won’t return to this place ever in summer again.
View on GoogleTime of visit: April 2022 A Very Good Lobster Roll That Ends Too Soon 👍 LUKE’S LOBSTER serves a very fresh and carefully prepared lobster roll with a light texture and clean flavor. The portion is small for the price, which makes the value feel limited. The beautiful interior and neat presentation make it an enjoyable place.
View on GoogleI had a bit of a mixed experience at Luke’s Lobster Shinjuku. The food was average. The portion and price felt fairly reasonable for the amount of lobster and crab meat you get, but unfortunately, the taste wasn’t quite right for me. It was a little bland and lacked the flavour I was expecting from a lobster roll. That said, the staff were absolutely lovely. They were very friendly, welcoming, and especially accommodating to tourists, which made the overall experience much more pleasant. Overall, the service was excellent, and the price-to-portion ratio was reasonable, but I personally found the food a little underwhelming in terms of flavour.
View on GoogleIt was fairly empty when I arrived around 2 pm. Service was fast, and food was served within 3 minutes. The chunks of lobster didn't taste was sweet when I ate it 6 years ago. It's not very filling too so I recommend you eat this after having breakfast or after lunch.
