Little quiet area, very pretty. There is much history here, and this well feeding water is too much of the area. Little walk through the garden to get there, with lots of green around. Few steps down, but don't drink. We got there, there was no one around us, but after a few minutes, there were a bunch that lined up behind us. If you're in the garden, you should go and check it out.

Meiji Jingu Gyoen (Meiji Shrine Inner Garden) Poem by Emperor Meiji: “Utsusemi no / Yoyogi no sato wa / shizuka nite / Miyako no hoka no / kokochi koso sure.” (The village of Yoyogi, quiet and still, feels as if it were apart from the capital.) This garden was originally the landscaped grounds of the secondary residences of the feudal lords Kato and Ii during the early Edo period. In the early Meiji era, it became an imperial estate. At the wish of Emperor Meiji, parts of the garden were remodeled, and Empress Shoken frequently visited, making it a site of deep historical significance. Covering approximately 83,000 square meters (over 25,000 tsubo), the garden retains the characteristic atmosphere of Musashino’s natural landscape. Within the grounds are sites such as Kiyomasa’s Well (Seisho-no-ido), the Iris Garden, Nan-ike Pond, and the Kakuuntei teahouse. Each season offers its own unique beauty, but the irises — beloved by the deified Emperor and Empress — are especially magnificent when they bloom in June.

It was a quiet place with forest sounds. About 5 mins in queue on a weekday morning. Just when I was about to step towards the well, a blue butterfly 🦋 stopped me for a second by dancing in front of me. What a moment of surprise from nature!

It’s not worth the walk. The well is more like a small 2x2 feet hole 1 foot deep. Why walk 500m to see that. Cmon
