One of the most memorable meals of my life, it all felt like a warm hug. The nostalgia and comfort was the main ingredient. Felt like we were invited to someone's house for breakfast, everything felt so freshly made and peak quality. If you like rice and bonito would definitely recommend this meal.
View on GoogleIncredible quality TKG and a perfect way to start the day. The smokiness and umami of the freshly shaved bonito flakes has a distinct sharpness that cuts through the richness of the egg yolk and that is balanced by the neutral rice. Every bite is wonderfully savoury and accentuated by the fluffy yet firm mouthfeel of the rice, with the selection of pickles refreshing the palate between each bite. Great spot for breakfast! To ensure that you are not disappointed, make a reservation to ensure you are seated at your intended time. Otherwise, you will be subject to a line-up and must wait for an open pocket between reservations to get a seat.
View on GoogleWatching the owner freshly shave Bonito flakes for your meal is one of the best experiences! I will recommend adding the kaarage to your set meal! Absolutely delicious! Something to highlight: if you made a booking, please arrive on time! The place is small and food is all prepared by hand. If you did not make a reservation, be prepared to wait till seats are available.
View on GoogleEnjoyable breakfast. Was able to make a reservation 2 days prior. The seats are limited and you CAN NOT be late. My reservation was 8:30. There were a few parties in front of me who did not have reservations. The owner/chef let us in 8:30 sharp. And there were 2 seats left, she let the people in line with no reservations to take the seat at 8:40. I saw a couple who has reservations were asked to wait when they came 8:41. The highlight was the karage, smoked fish and the katsuoboshi miso paste. The bathroom was cute too with mackerel wallpaper.
View on GoogleThe flavour of the bonito really came out once you mixed it all in with the rice and raw egg. The side dishes were fantastic as well. I'm normally not a fan of bitter melon, but they were able to almost eliminate all the bitterness here. Also, the eggplant and minced meat balanced each other out perfectly We also ordered the fried bonito, but that was just okay.
