Homework's Hiroo
【3 minutes on foot from Hiroo Station on the Subway Hibiya Line】“Homework’s” began in Hiroo in 1985 when its owner, who had spent 7 years in Brentwood, a quiet residential neighborhood in LA, wanted to fulfill his young daughter's wish to “eat a real American hamburger.” Japan's first gourmet burger and sandwich restaurant, “Homework’s” values not only authentic flavor but also being Homey, Hearty, and Healthy, like a mother cooking for her child, providing all customers with heartwarming food and service. Institution, that’s the best way to describe this quaint sandwich/burger joint that has been in operation since 1985. As of 2025, none of the issues from the other reviews were apparent during my visit, there were no loose ingredients placed anywhere, food was served quickly, with a high standard and the staff were responsive. Prices are fair and the set completes most choices quite nicely with a small serving of soup which hits the spot in cold weather. The restaurant itself is picturesque and the facilities are clean (if that is a consideration for you). Having tried a few of their sandwiches, I’d recommend them in the following order: Reuben (rye untoasted) > BLT (rye toasted) > club (white toasted).
View on GoogleNot tasty and extremely overpriced. Thin smash burger for over 2000 yen without fries or a drink! The lunch special is over 2000 yen and doesn't even come with fries! Crazy. Go down the street to burger mania and get MUCH better quality burgers, fries, etc. and it will even be cheaper! Or go next door to teddy brown for a real burger (albeit a little more expensive, it's at least worth it!). Location is good and the place looks kinda cute...but it's just so bad. Can't wait till this places closes and something better opens up.
View on GoogleMy wife and I ate here. I was craving a hamburger and we walked down to this place from the New Sanno, maybe a 10 minute walk. I ordered the avocado burger and it was fantastic! I think there was an entire avocado on there! The atmosphere was great we took our time and really enjoyed this restaurant. Thanks!!
View on GoogleCame here for weekend brunch. Smaller inside than I thought but feels spacious because of the windows. Ordered the monthly special sandwich (turkey) and grilled cheese sandwich. The turkey sandwich was pretty yummy and tasted fresh and light. The grilled cheese sandwich didn't really had the cheese melted but the combo of thick cut of cheese and the ham tastes good. Lettuce was crispy. Will try the burger next time
View on GoogleThe sandwich can be a bit spicy I think the meat was very blant and just tasteless…they can give option of red chillie sauce also…
