Harajuku Station 原宿駅 Harajuku Station is one of the most iconic railway stations in Tokyo and a gateway to one of the city’s most colorful and energetic neighborhoods. Located in Shibuya, the station is served by the JR Yamanote Line, making it an easy stop for travelers exploring Tokyo. One of the best things about Harajuku Station is its convenient location. Just outside the station, visitors can quickly reach Takeshita Street, a famous shopping and entertainment area filled with fashion boutiques, cafés, dessert shops, and unique stores. The lively atmosphere makes the area especially fun to explore, with something interesting around almost every corner. The station is also located close to Meiji Jingu, one of Tokyo’s most peaceful and beautiful Shinto shrines. The contrast between the busy streets of Harajuku and the quiet forest surrounding the shrine is one of the things I enjoyed most about visiting this area. In just a short walk, you can experience two completely different sides of Tokyo. Harajuku is also well known for its fashion and youth culture. Visitors can discover everything from trendy Japanese streetwear to vintage clothing and creative boutiques. Nearby Omotesando offers a more sophisticated atmosphere, with luxury brands, stylish architecture, and elegant cafés. Overall, Harajuku Station is much more than a transportation hub. It is the perfect starting point for discovering Tokyo’s fashion, culture, food, and history. Whether you are interested in shopping, photography, architecture, or traditional Japanese culture, Harajuku Station makes it easy to experience many different sides of Tokyo in one visit.

View on GoogleQuite a busy station, as they all are. If possible try to avoid the peak period (there's a lot shoppers and commuters trying to get into the station, not to mention the train itself).

View on GoogleLate May 2023. Review is on Harajuku itself, not the station (though the station itself is very convenient) Go, walk. Shops and Crepes. The day we went it didn't seem that busy. We were on the main street, but the side streets seemed shuttered(?). It may be because we went late in the afternoon. Suggestion is probably go when you want a crepe for lunch (preferably at a time when not so many people are also looking for a crepe). Weekend would probably be cooler to see more people in their 'be yourself' wear. If I were with a younger group of people, I'd browse more. But was with my older brothers, so they weren't as interested, as just to have been there. lols, the tour group brought us all the way to the sailor moon store, which was cool, if I were with a younger group of people. =P. This was the last stop with the tour for the day. Brothers wanted izakaya - we went to Yokocho.
