foreigners here! we were debating between this one and another one that had slightly higher ratings. i am so glad we chose to come here. they are busy. so don’t expect exceptional service. but do expect exceptional ramen. nice balanced ramen with good flavor. food came out quick. if there are a lot of locals eating there, it’s definitely a good sign.
View on GoogleHakodate Ramen Shiokan A textbook expression of Hakodate-style shio ramen, where clarity and balance matter more than intensity. Hakodate Ramen Shiokan delivers a beautifully clear, light broth that still carries depth—clean chicken and seafood umami without heaviness or excess fat. The noodles are well matched to the soup, offering a gentle bite that doesn’t distract from the broth’s aroma. Toppings are restrained and purposeful, reinforcing the idea that this bowl is about harmony rather than impact. Every element feels calibrated, not accidental. The atmosphere is simple and unfussy, keeping the focus on the ramen itself. It’s the kind of place you appreciate more the second time, once you realize how much discipline it takes to make something this clean taste complete. If you enjoy refined, elegant ramen that prioritizes transparency and balance, Hakodate Ramen Shiokan is a quiet standout—and an easy recommendation for those who value subtlety over punch.
View on GoogleNice place for eating ramen near Ebisu Station. The restaurant is very small, with seats arranged along a long counter, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself eating shoulder-to-shoulder with a stranger, but what’s more Japanese than that? The overall quality of the food was good, with firm noodles and tender meat. You can also add garlic paste, chili, and citrus sauce — all available on the counter — to enhance the flavors of your ramen. The portion size was huge. I also tried the gyoza, and they were very tasty, especially the filling. In general, this is a good ramen place!
View on GoogleVery very good ramen! Card accepted, order manually with the service staff for credit card use. Very polite and patient service. Very great tasting ramen and soba.
View on GoogleBest gyoza I have ever had! The staff was incredibly gracious in providing additional care to a family member. Highly recommend this quaint, quiet, delicious noodle shop!
