Second time visiting. Place is small, lines are long. Took us 20 minutes to get in. A few steps away from the entrance, they will start handing you menus and taking your order. Food itself is good. The steaks are nice and fatty, almost buttery. Only negative is that they seem to use less breading this year. You get a free bowl of extra rice with the set meal; make it count and get a large. Staff are friendly and efficient considering how many people go through this place. Highly recommended, if you can drop 3K JPY or more per person per meal.
View on GoogleWe had an amazing experience at Gyukatsu Motomura! The beef was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Being able to grill each piece to our own liking on the small stone was a fun and unique experience. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and explained everything clearly, even for first-time visitors. The restaurant was clean, well organized, and the atmosphere was authentic. This was one of the best meals we have had in Japan so far. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tokyo!
View on GoogleEvery table is equipped with a personal mini stone grill heated by a small flame. You place each slice on the hot stone to sear it to your preferred level of doneness, adding an engaging, interactive element to the meal.
View on GoogleA small, unpretentious place that turned out to be one of the most memorable meals of our trip. We ordered the gyukatsu (1.5 portion) and cooked it ourselves on a hot stone at the table ,such a fun and unique experience. The beef was incredibly tender and full of flavor, perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Every bite felt fresh and intentional. You can really feel the care and attention to detail here. Simple setting, but full of warmth, aroma, and soul. And the warabi mochi… absolutely outstanding. So soft, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth , honestly not comparable to any mochi I’ve had before. We loved it so much we ordered it again. Highly recommend. A true hidden gem.
View on GoogleGyukatsu Motomura in Shibuya was absolutely worth the wait for me. Even with the long line, the small counter setup makes the whole experience feel focused and worth planning for. I liked how the restaurant has a simple, no-frills feel while still delivering a memorable meal. If you’re in the area and don’t mind queueing, this is one of those places that lives up to the hype.
