I visited Ganso Unatetsu in Shibuya and had an amazing experience. I ordered: • The full set of grilled unagi skewers • Unaju (grilled eel over rice in a box) • A cold beer The skewers were fantastic—each piece was from a different part of the eel, from head to tail. Every bite offered a new texture and flavor. It’s a fun and delicious way to appreciate the whole eel. The unaju was absolutely perfect. Tender, flavorful, and grilled just right—the kind of dish that makes you go quiet just to savor it. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, whether you’re coming solo or with a group. Super convenient and highly recommended if you’re in Shibuya!
View on GoogleSo many better options for eel. The sides are really bland and main dish is just 'meh' -- and altogether way overpriced (even for eel) Keep in mind the place us old-school cash (or PayPay) only For tourists hitting Shibuya that want eel and can't be bothered to book ahead this might be an ok option- but better just to skip
View on GoogleDelicious unagi-don with fresh Sansho pepper that stimulates all your budtastes! The food couldn't be better. Even the simple soup and spinach salad also come with unagi! That's impressive. It's not cheap but the food is worth it. My only big complaint would be the cigarette smoke. The shop is small. So, when customers are allowed to smoke as they please inside, it gets rather suffocating.
View on GoogleUnagi = eel fish If you are interested in a very Japanese style meal and is willing to explore different parts of the eel fish. You should give this restaurant a try. The entrance is not easy to find, located at the end of the hall way. I would recommend the grilled skewers set if you are feeling adventurous. If this is the first time trying eel, a bowl is also good.
