About a 5-minute walk from the South Exit of Shinjuku Station. We are a self-roasting coffee shop established in 1989. Focusing on specialty coffee from single farms, we serve coffee roasted to bring out the unique characteristics of the beans, prepared via hand-drip. Please spend a relaxing time with our homemade toast and cakes. Please note that each seat requires a one-drink order.

Oh my god, I have never had such a bad service in my life anywhere anytime before. The 50-60ish lady shouted at us and gave us a infuriated look. She throws spoons on our desk. My friend, who was wondering how amazing Japanese customer service was, shocked by this shop and realized not all services in Japan were not cool. If this company wants to survive, it needs some improvement. I am saying this for the sake of future customers and the coffee shop itself. Personally, I will never go there again
View on GoogleA long-established coffee shop located on the 2nd floor of the Taruya building, about a 5-minute walk from the South Exit of Shinjuku Station along Koshu Kaido towards Hatsudai. The interior has a country-style decor like a wooden cottage or lodge, and it's a shop with loose smoking separation. There is a cash register counter in front, the right side from the entrance is the non-smoking area, and the left side near the counter is the smoking area where electronic cigarettes are allowed. (The shop is clean and not smoky, so most people should be able to spend time in the non-smoking area without feeling uncomfortable.) As for the number of seats, the smoking side has 6 counter seats, 4 tables for two, and 2 tables for four. The non-smoking side seems to have about the same number of seats. (This time I am sitting in the smoking area facing the counter) For the menu, there are 3 types of blends: special blend, strong blend, and dark roast iced coffee. For single origin, there are 4 reliable types: Guatemala, Brazil, Ethiopia, and Kenya. In addition, there is a daily single origin, Nicaragua, and coffee other than the above may also be available. There are also coffee shop menus such as cafe au lait, cocoa, royal milk tea, grape juice, and cream soda. Light meals are also available, such as toast menus like pizza toast and jam toast, as well as baked goods like madeleines, pound cakes, brownies, and cookies. *Payment is cash or some electronic payments like Paypay only. This time I had the special blend and pound cake (butter cream sandwich). For the special blend, it is carefully extracted with a V60 dripper. The aroma is a sweet scent like burnt milk caramel, the mouthfeel is slightly heavy-bodied, and it has plum-like acidity and bitterness like strong coffee. On the other hand, the sweetness of the coffee itself is strong, balancing the aforementioned acidity, making it easy to drink even without milk. It's a very delicious coffee. The pound cake is an original pound cake with homemade-style butter cream sandwiched between thinly sliced pound cake. It gently wraps the black coffee and makes it mellow, a very good pairing. It's a shop that feels like a resting place for Showa-era salarymen, perfect for a short break. Especially, I think it's an oasis for smokers, even if it's only electronic cigarettes. (I don't smoke, but I think it's good that places like this exist) Also, the prices feel like they stopped in the Showa era, and the price range in this location is worthy of applause. A shop I hope will continue for a long time.
View on Google[Strong Blend] I was looking for a coffee shop because I had some free time, and I happened to find this shop. Located along Koshu Kaido in Minami-Shinjuku, on the 2nd floor of Taruya, coffee shop Forest. When you go up the stairs and enter, there are 7 counter seats and about 6-7 tables on the left. On the right, there are rows of tables for two, and the space feels more spacious than I thought. The handmade wooden chairs at the counter are impressive, but the retro atmosphere that drifts throughout the shop, such as the stucco ceiling, lamps that cast soft light, and characterful wooden tables, is very comfortable and reminiscent of a Showa-era coffee shop, and it is very calming. For the menu, blend coffee starts from 500 yen, and toast starts from 250 yen, which is a surprisingly reasonable price setting for these days. The Strong Blend I ordered has a firm bitterness that comes to the front, and the acidity is restrained. When sugar and milk are added, the balance is good, and it fits so well that I thought it might have been blended for that purpose. Above all, I was able to relax and spend time away from the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku. It was a good coffee shop where you can enjoy delicious coffee at a great value. A shop where you can feel 'Forest' in 'For Rest'. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleI came here because I had business nearby and was waiting for time. I went around 4 PM on a weekday, there were about 3 people inside, but since it was empty, it was quiet and comfortable. Electronic cigarettes and the regular area are separated, but there are no partitions. Since it's on the 2nd floor of the building, it felt like a hidden cafe and I liked the atmosphere. The coffee was also delicious! Next time I want to try eating something.
View on GoogleOn a weekday morning, I had about 30 minutes of free time so I used this place. As soon as I sat down, a cool female staff member came to take my order, so I ordered iced coffee (500 yen). Looking around the shop, there was the female staff member from earlier and the owner. In addition, several previous customers were having a business meeting. As the name suggests, the interior is designed with the image of a forest, and almost everything is made of wood. Perhaps because there are many salarymen due to the location, there were several youth magazines at the entrance. And, in less than 3 minutes, the iced coffee was brought to me. As for the taste, as someone who likes coffee but is not very fond of that acidity, I felt that the acidity was not too strong and it was easy to drink, and it was very delicious. You can tell it was carefully brewed after ordering. As the time was approaching, I paid with paypay and left the shop. My stay was about 20 minutes, but I had a good time. I was wondering whether to go to a convenience store or McDonald's, but I'm glad I came here. If the timing is right, I'd like to go again. Next time, I want to try the tuna toast set.
