This is a cute mom and pop type place with a resident dog. I really enjoyed the food here, and visited a second time for lunch with my 5 year old. She wouldn't have been able to finish an entire portion, so we had planned to share. There is a one order per person policy, which is quite common in Tokyo. However, none of the drinks were appropriate for a small child and would have cost not that much less than a lunch meal. So my daughter chose something (menu has nice photos), and I chose another dish. The waitress took our orders. My daughter's dish turned out to be way too spicy for her. It was even spicy for me, and I like spicy food. When ordering the dish was clearly meant for my daughter, and I wish the waitress could have been more attentive in telling us that it would be too spicy for a child. Unfortunately, it did not feel very welcoming and accomodating, and this was not a great experience for us. This cafe is fine for adults, but I don't think it is quite suitable for families / small children.

Coffee tastes OK, a bit expensive (starting around 800 yen). But they potentially charged us for sold-out items which we didn’t have. Also, the shop tried to delete the comment from the Japanese review platform even we have four witnesses (We are foreign tourists but 2 of us understand Japanese). It’s a cash-only shop that we order food with the servant. Two items we tried to order were sold out already told by the servant. When we paid, the sold-out items were listed in the bill. If I didn’t notice it and stop, the transaction would go through without any doubt. How could they add the sold-out items onto the bill when we didn’t not even successfully order it at the table? After we insisted that there were items which were not ordered successfully, the servant deleted that from the bill, saying we canceled it—— but the true reason is the servant never took the order. I don’t like to be blamed for their mistake. They didn’t apologize at all. So because careful, check the bill before you go, especially if you’re foreigners.

There are a dog who may have a slightly stronger "power to believe in miracles." The pancakes are delicious, and the moment you take a bite, the colors of the world become even more beautiful. Try changing the flavor with butter or other ingredients to enjoy the third and fourth acts of beautiful colors.

Love this quaint little cafe tucked at the corner of a lane off Harjuku. Cafe Casa has lovely and inviting interior and exterior. The banana tart is absolutely gorgeous! (Don’t forget to visit the picturesque loo)
