Relaxed choice with a New York City theme specializing in chicken & waffles, plus pancakes.

"Buttermilk Channel," an American comfort food restaurant from Brooklyn, New York, located near the station just a 1-minute walk from Exit 5 of Harajuku/Meiji-jingumae Station, has landed in Japan! It's a brunch restaurant where you can enjoy nostalgic "family flavors" beloved in households all across America, such as fried chicken & waffles, eggs Benedict, and pancakes. As the name suggests, buttermilk is indispensable to the cuisine at "Buttermilk Channel." It gives pancakes a fluffy, springy texture, makes the fried chicken meat tender and juicy, and gives the coating a crispy finish. Throughout the day, heartwarming America…

Wandering around Harajuku area, my family and I started to get hungry. Popped onto Google Maps and came across Buttermilk Channel. First big thing I noticed was that it was not just all pancakes. They have quite a variety of foods and spirits. To order, you scan the QR code and order from the website or Line app.. my party ordered BBQ oysters, wages beef steak, Blueberry Pancakes with Ricotta, Cheese Toast, Lasagna (it's vegetarian),and chips with guacamole. We were all very satisfied with the flavor! Those were definitely some of the best pancakes I have had!!! My party enjoyed their food as well! Definitely keeping on my list of places to return to when in the country!

We ordered plain pancakes paired with iced coffee. The pancakes make a good mix of the soft soufflé Japanese pancakes and the flat American pancake, and I think that's good. There are plenty of seating, but it still gets crowded especially during weekends. The staff is kind and they speak good English too.

Tourist review. The staff behavior was disappointing, especially in how they managed seating. We waited in line for a long time, while many tables were empty, which felt frustrating and poorly organized. It was also strange to see several tables pushed together with only one or two people sitting there, which seemed like an inefficient use of space. Food and atmosphere were generally fine, but the overall impression was already spoiled at the stage of waiting to be seated.

What we ordered: buffallo chicken popover 2x buttermilk chicken and cheddar waffle. drinks: wine, lemonade What went well: The popover, cheese that comes with it, and the waffle is good, I'd come again just for the waffle / popover. What went wrong: First of all the wine comes at room temperature, not chilled. This is a bad sign, but it gets worse. Next, the buffallo chicken is very salty. We were able to eat it with the provided ranch dressing, but it's not pleasant. Finally, the nail in the coffin: the buttermilk chicken, the supposed star of the show is a HUGE dissapointment. Let me break it down: The chicken drumstick smells blood. We drench it with the provided balsamic vinegar and it's somewhat edible. The chicken thigh is absolutely horrid, it reeks freezer and blood, it's dry, and we were unable to even eat it. Now I believe in credits where credit is due: the service is good, the overall atmosphere is pleasant. I would recommend the waffle and the popover to others, just maybe none of the meat products. It is such a shame as we were highly anticipating it.

The wait may be long, and the buttermilk biscuits were sold out, but the cheddar pancakes are really nice. Fried chicken is crispy, but the meat is fine (not overdone, but could be more tender/juicy). Also, fun to see popovers in Tokyo, and pretty good! Service is friendly and efficient. You only have 90 minutes to eat during peak times, but it's more than enough, as they serve the food quickly.
