Found this beautiful classic kissaten after lunch in Shibuya. They use siphon filter method for all their coffee. I tried the Guatemalan. I'm still recovering from a cold, so my sense of taste is probably at 40%. But I can taste some lemon zest in this "true" medium roast. Otherwise it's a balanced flavor that would be expected to have cream and sugar added to by most people. Price is reasonable for such a lovely place, and they offer cake sets as well. This cup was 600 yen. They keep the smokers secluded in a back room, best of both worlds 👍 the main menu has some English.
View on GoogleThe coffee was mild and good but not as complex or deep as I would like. It's good for those who like coffee a bit on the weaker side. It's my preference, though. It hits all the other points.

View on GoogleRelaxed place and you can enjoy premium coffee that you choose from a variety of beans type. It's a little far from station but worth going if you are a fun of Japanese traditional cafe.
View on GoogleA lovely little Shōwa-retro kissaten, full of old-fashioned charm and nostalgia. I originally wanted to order the ham and cheese sandwich, but somehow ended up ordering the cheese toast from the daily lunch menu instead. It turned out to be a happy mistake. The bread was wonderfully soft and fluffy, and the cheese was perfectly melted and gooey. What really made the meal feel nostalgic, though, were the little side dishes: potato chips, a banana, and mandarin orange jelly. Something about that combination instantly reminded me of the kind of simple, comforting meals you might have found in a Japanese café decades ago. Everything was simple, but very tasty and satisfying. It did take a little while for the food to come out, and unfortunately I was a bit short on time that day, so I ended up eating rather quickly. I would have loved to slow down, enjoy the atmosphere, and have a proper cup of coffee. Still, I was very happy to have found this charming little place. It has a wonderful nostalgic atmosphere that feels genuinely Shōwa-era rather than simply styled that way. I’d love to come back when I have more time and enjoy the coffee at a much slower pace.
