Wanted to have some good karaage in Tokyo and decided to try out this place. Very fulfilling meal and would love to come back if I get the chance. Happy eating!

View on GoogleI went in thinking it was the curry udon restaurant Senkichi, but it turned out to be a chicken restaurant called Torisen that now also serves Senkichi's curry udon. One of those hybrid restaurants that have become popular lately. I wanted a drink first, so I ordered the Haikara set with a highball and 2 pieces of karaage. There was shibazuke on the table too. Since I hadn't had enough to drink, I also ordered a lemon sour and lotus root tempura, then finished with Senkichi curry udon with rice. I think it's a good place for either drinks or a meal. It was delicious.
View on GoogleVisited Torisen in Soshigaya-Okura. This time I ordered oyakodon (large) for 680 yen. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much at that price, but I was surprised by how good it was. The savory chicken and egg were well balanced, and I liked that it wasn't overly sweet or heavily seasoned. While eating, I thought, "I'd like to make this flavor at home." That kind of just-right deliciousness. Not too expensive, with a substantial portion. For a quick solo dinner, I think it's a very convenient place. Nothing flashy, but it was a comforting oyakodon that makes you want to come back regularly.
