I had tempura seiro for lunch. I had to queue because it's a popular place, but I enjoyed the freshly fried tempura and chewy soba. The staff were kind too, making it a comfortable place to spend time.

The seiro portion is generous, looking easily over 100 grams, and the interior has exactly the feel of a neighborhood soba shop. I've visited at lunchtime too, and perhaps because the lunch menu is extensive, with mini tendon, oyakodon, and more, it gets incredibly lively with tradespeople from nearby work sites. There's a fair selection of drinking snacks, such as itawasa, agedashi eggplant, and nishin no boni, but even at night it feels more like a place to eat than a place to drink. This time I visited in the evening and had a medium bottle of beer, anago ten seiro, and grated daikon ordered separately, but the anago would have suited my taste better with a little more moisture cooked out. That was the only thing that bothered me slightly.

The soba shop in Shibuya I'd been going to for years suddenly closed, leaving a hole in my heart. While looking for my next place, I came across this restaurant. I ordered “oyako nanban (1050円).” Soft strands of beaten egg mingle with the slightly sweet broth, gently spreading through your mouth along with the savory flavor of chicken. Somehow nostalgic, yet unmistakably a taste of “now.” I couldn't help murmuring to myself, “Yes, exactly, this is the kind of soba I've been wanting.” I've found a good place. The staff's kind service was lovely too. I'll definitely be back. Next time, I'll have tempura soba. (The person next to me had some, and it looked far too good.)
