We run a restaurant serving Niigata's specialty 『へぎそば』 in Sangenjaya, Tokyo. We also put care into Niigata sake, individual dishes, and drinking snacks. The 『小千谷そば』 used for our 『へぎそば』 is a special soba made with funori seaweed♪ At night, we offer tempura, snacks, and alcohol. You can visit for a meal, a casual evening drink, or a banquet. Finish with hegi soba. At lunchtime, enjoy 『小千谷そば』 at a good value in a set with a rice bowl. We aim to be a familiar place where you can casually stop by.

While looking for lunch in Sangenjaya, I stopped by 須坂屋そば 三軒茶屋店. I pictured it as a soba shop, but was surprised by the extensive lunch menu. This time we ordered the katsu curry set and tendon set. The katsu curry paired crisply fried pork cutlet with curry that had just the right amount of spice, and the portion was substantial. The soba in the set went down smoothly, reminding me that this really is a soba specialist. Meanwhile, the tendon set had crispy shrimp and vegetable tempura, with a sweet-savory sauce that went well with the rice. This also included soba, making it very satisfying; either choice would leave you full. At lunchtime, it was busy with nearby office workers and locals, showing how popular it is. Looking at the menu inside, the evening offerings were appealing too. Beyond soba, there was a wide selection of individual dishes and an atmosphere suited to enjoying drinks with tempura and snacks. The drinks selection was also broad, including sake and shochu, making it seem convenient for a drink after work or a casual gathering. I was satisfied with lunch, but next time I would love to visit at night and leisurely enjoy drinks, individual dishes, and soba to finish.

I enjoyed a meal at 須坂屋そば 三軒茶屋店. This time I had mentaiko tempura, heki soba, seared salmon miso tataki, ginger aburaage, and dashimaki tamago. Every dish was carefully prepared. The mentaiko tempura in particular was crisp outside and melting inside, with an irresistible distinctive flavor. The heki soba was aromatic and smooth going down, the refreshing ginger aburaage balanced the meal, and the dashimaki tamago had a gentle sweetness and comforting taste. One thing to note is that they only accept cash, so it is reassuring to have some ready beforehand. Overall, the food quality was high, and it was a very satisfying meal. I would like to visit again.

It was my first visit, but the soba was incredibly delicious, and the manager was very kind and lent me an umbrella on a rainy day. I truly think this place is the best.

Both the soba and tempura were delicious. I enjoyed a lovely meal at lunchtime. Tempura with drinks in the evening must be wonderful. The staff were friendly too, and the lively conversation left me feeling good. I would like to go again.

須坂屋そば specializes in Niigata's famous hegi soba. There are several shops with the same name in Tokyo, but this Sangenjaya branch is quite a longstanding one. Hegi refers to a rectangular wooden-framed serving tray, in which slightly dark soba is neatly arranged. Besides its signature soba, this 須坂屋 also offers an extensive selection of Niigata alcohol and snacks. The large aburaage from Tochio, Niigata, is especially popular and a definite order here! I visited for lunch that day, so I ordered a soba set. The menu lists soba sets with tendon, katsudon, curry don, katsu curry don, and kamaage shirasu don. The soba does not come in a hegi, but of course it is the same soba. Even the regular portions are substantial, but a large serving of rice is free at lunch. I recommend visiting for evening drinks, with hegi soba to finish being the classic routine here.
