It's a shame that we can only see very small number of art works.
View on GoogleA small art museum created by renovating the former home and atelier of abstract painter Taiji Kiyokawa. Its appeal is the easy access, just a 3-minute walk from “Seijogakuen-mae” Station on the Odakyu Line. The modern building, standing quietly in a peaceful residential area, is striking for its simple, refined space of exposed concrete. The interior is by no means large, but special exhibitions and collection exhibitions centered on Taiji Kiyokawa's abstract paintings are held several times a year, so you can take your time appreciating the works. The flowers and plants in the garden are beautiful in every season, and every visit leaves you feeling calm. It's especially recommended for those interested in abstract painting or anyone who wants to experience the atmosphere of an artist's atelier as it was. A quiet, relaxing gallery that's perfect for stopping by during a stroll around Setagaya. If you want to encounter some niche abstract art, be sure to visit.
View on GoogleI came from the Seijo-machi bus stop, but Seijogakuen Station might have been closer... It's just an ordinary house standing in a quiet residential area. The exhibition space was smaller than I expected, but the feel of the artist's daily life still remains, and while enjoying the self-service tea🫖 and gazing at the garden, I felt as if I'd time-slipped back to that era. You can use SetaPay, but there's no bonus point rebate.
View on GoogleFrom yesterday until the 31st, an exhibition of “Kōkankō” by incense master Mamiko Imai sensei is being held. Please come and experience the sensei's original fragrances.
View on GoogleThis is an annex of the Setagaya Art Museum. It's Taiji Kiyokawa's atelier turned into a gallery, but there's only a high-ceilinged room and a small sunroom-like room, so compared to the other annexes it feels a bit lacking. Instead, there are two ward residents' gallery rooms (not big), so maybe it's often used as a rental space. Also, though a bit far away, around Seijogakuen-mae Station there are the “Seijo Mitsuike Green Space & Former Yamada Residence” and the “Seijo 5-chome Inomata Garden” to the north, and the “Jidayubori Park Minkaen (Folk House Garden)” to the south.
