I liked the free art library at Setagaya Art Museum, especially since it had a few bilingual books in English and Japanese. It made the visit feel worthwhile, and it was a nice extra if you’re already spending time around Kinuta Park. A simple stop, but a thoughtful one.
View on GoogleThe Setagaya Art Museum is a hidden gem nestled within the beautiful Kinuta Park. I was particularly impressed by the spacious exhibition rooms and modern architecture, which create a serene atmosphere perfect for appreciating art. The museum offers a small permanent exhibit for just 200 yen, but I highly recommend checking out their special exhibits, which are usually around 1000 yen and well worth the price. The friendly staff and the lovely cafe on-site make for a pleasant visit. While it can get a bit crowded on weekends, the museum's location in the expansive park makes it an ideal spot for a relaxing day out. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the park itself, especially during cherry blossom season when it's absolutely stunning.
View on GoogleQuite a nice gallery in Kunata park. You can wander around the outside and appreciate the architecture & sculptures, or pay 200 yen for the small permanent exhibit, but I'd recommend waiting for an interesting special exhibit, usually about 1000 yen. Nice small cafe as well. Can be crowded on the weekend.
View on GoogleWent to see the “galleries without artworks” yesterday. It’s quite a nice museum, spacious exhibition rooms, modern architecture and friendly staffs. The park in which the museum is location is also very big and can be an ideal location for picnics. Parking lot is free if you visit the museum.
View on GoogleThis is a nice local museum with a pleasant restaurant. Entrance was only 200 yen. I had the afternoon coffee and cake set at the restaurant. I particularly liked the Galleries Without Artworks exhibit which was exactly that: empty gallery walls due to Covid but nice views of the park from big windows and interesting architecture.
