Unagi restaurant

★ 4.254 reviews

[Asaya/Chitose-Karasuyama/Unagi] Quietly nestled on a calm street away from the station's hustle and bustle, this is a restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere featuring only a single-board cypress counter. While waiting for your food, you can enjoy watching the craftsmanship up close while chatting, a unique pleasure of counter seating. In addition to domestic eel, keep an eye out for seasonal ingredients like sakura shrimp, pufferfish, and conger eel shipped directly from their origins. Please enjoy to your heart's content with your favorite drink.

Excellent among the eel shops I've visited in the vicinity. Given its location in a residential area, you can eat high-class eel at more reasonable prices than in the city, which speaks to the owner's integrity. The limited-quantity lunch eel bowl and the lunch set menu are both high quality. I tried the Gindara Saikyo-yaki (miso-marinated grilled black cod). It was savory, thick, plump, and tasted even better than I expected. A masterpiece that highlights their grilling skills.

I found this place by chance while looking for a lunch spot on Google Maps after visiting graves at Myoyu-ji Temple during the spring Ohigan. The small interior with only counter seats felt clean, and the service from the wife, who seemed unaccustomed to the business, was also comfortable. The kabayaki sauce wasn't too sweet, and the grilling was fluffy and savory—delicious. I definitely want to stop by again on my way back from visiting the graves. Update) I also stopped by during the Obon grave cleaning and enjoyed the delicious kabayaki. Update) I stopped by on Thursday, September 22, 2022, for the autumn Ohigan, but it was a regular holiday, so I couldn't eat the delicious unaju >.< . Update) I stopped by on Friday, September 22, 2023, for the autumn Ohigan, but it was closed again! It was also full during Obon in July and I couldn't get in; my luck has been bad lately~

Because it was the Day of the Ox, I came for the first time. I ordered the Unaju Matsu and liver skewers. I don't usually eat eel very often, but the meat was fluffy and very delicious. The small side dish and liver soup were also very tasty. If I have the chance, next time I want to try the eel bowl for lunch.

I usually go a week before the Day of the Ox, but this year I got takeout. Takeout comes with Nagatanien instant soup. The eel is fluffy, not too fatty, and light. The grilling is just right and very delicious. For a normal portion, Take is enough; for those who want to eat a lot, choose Matsu. Matsu uses a whole eel. 8/2/2026 The prices have changed so I'm reposting. All include tax Matsu: 4400 yen Take: 3300 yen Ume: 2200 yen

I found it by searching for nearby eel shops on Google on the Day of the Ox and ordered. I called before noon and was able to reserve for pickup at 7:00 PM. I ordered Take. The meat was fluffy, and it came with soup and tamagoyaki, so I was satisfied. The interior is also clean, so after the pandemic ends, I want to go again to eat in.
