Let me get straight to the point: PostCoffee in Shimokitazawa serves fantastic coffee! It gets full marks for that. You can even choose the type of bean. The flat white – unlike in so many other coffee shops – isn’t a cappuccino in disguise, or a latte for that matter, but actually a double espresso with just the right amount of milk; you don’t need an extra shot. The atmosphere is lovely too: a stylish design and very friendly Japanese baristas who also speak English and know their craft. But there’s another reason why this café became my regular haunt during my week’s stay in trendy Shimokitazawa: because it proves that the world really is a small place :-) When I was at PostCoffee for the first time, waiting for my flat white, I spotted a cool bag among the merchandise, turned it over and read: the manufacturer is based in my home town of Berlin, at exactly the same address that was my employer’s address back in the day. What a coincidence...

Nicely designed coffee shop in Shimo Kitazawa. Very hip! They pay a lot of attention to every detail as well as crafting the perfect coffee. They also speak very good English here. Plenty of seats. It seems quite spacious compared to most other places in this area. Or actually: all over Tokyo. I don‘t know if it actually was a post office in the past. That might explain the space.

I was able to study here for a good while. There are comfortable chairs outside of the bar but people were also working on their laptops at the large table in the center of the cafe. I took a seat in the corner and had a pleasant time. I like the taste of the espresso here, and the staff has a cool vibe. I ordered two drinks, the oat milk latte and the affogato. I think they’re both good choices for people that might not like a straight coffee but want a balanced drink to sip on. Many groups came with their friends and chatted to the modern music playlist but it was never too loud. I think the cafe is pretty versatile! I saw larger groups of people find seats so you can come with your friends. I would like to come back and try the cake, ( it looked really delicious.) Even though me and my friend stayed late while studying, the owner was very kind. Thank you for a nice cafe experience.

Great coffee, a lot of hand drip specialties, also many beans and drip coffees to stock up. We had Rwanda and it was divine.

An elegant, minimalist space with fabulous, meticulously crafted coffee. They have beans from a wide range of well-known roasters, as well as their own roasts, plus a lot of stylish coffee accessories, mugs and other merch (actually, the whole area is cool, especially if you like vintage clothes and quirky retro nostalgia). There are quite a lot of seats. The staff were also incredibly kind and helpful when I lost my sunglasses (it's fine, I found them). All in all a lovely coffee shop – I wish I lived closer so I could visit more often!
