Decided to drop in here for lunch before having a walk through the nearby ravine park. My favourite ever ramen in Japan is a curry ramen from Sapporo. Since moving south some 10 years ago I have been searching for a worthy successor. Most of the curry ramen I have had down in Kanto have just been regular curry roux added to the ramen stock. It’s ok, but doesn’t hit the heights like my original. So I was intrigued when i saw the photos and it looked more like the ramen from Sapporo. You can choose which kind of noodles you want, thick (太麺) or thin (細い麺), I prefer the thick noodles. The two slices of chashu looked excellent, some char marks on them before being added to your plate. The soup is good, it is still curry-roux like but it’s not heavy. The underlying soup also shines through and doesn’t let the curry overpower it. I want to say that this is what Cup Ramen were trying to copy when they made their curry cup ramen, but failed to capture the smoothness and flavour. It’s NOT the same as my favourite in Sapporo, the search continues, but it is damn good.

If you feel like delicious tsukemen this place is a must. The curry comes out sizzling and the ramen is delicious. The pork melts in your mouth and I would recommend a second portion of it (cha shu). The setting is beautiful and they have a large collection of manga that you and read as well (brush up on your Japanese before attempting it). Enjoy - you’ll be very satisfied.

Curry tsukemen / ramen in a casual setting. Nice strong flavors in the boiling hot curry soup, nicely chargrilled chashu. Order by vending machine and the staff will collect your food tickets. They dont speak much English but are kind to foreigners. The special curry tsukemen (1100yen) is quite large, definitely cant finish all the noodles by myself. Quite small, tight seating.

I love their curry ramen. The chashu (pork) was so good! They also provide hair band and apron just for you to enjoy slurping the noodles without having to worry about your hair or shirt! Back here again in 2024, still delicious as usual!! *Baby chair is available.

Always visiting this curry ramen place, once a month at least. Very nice curry base with the right amount and texture of ramen. The cha siu is awesome! Right now they have a summer cold ramen, worth a try. And love their manga corner, super cool!
