Great original ramen with a deep umami-filled broth, that’s made from sardines (niboshi), chicken and pork. There’s usually a line but it’s worth the wait. The wantanmen soup was excellent and we also went for the signature Matsunami ramen and the zaru tsukemen - all of them were great. Recommended stop for ramen lovers.

Craving it after a long time, I went to "Ramen Matsunami" at Shoin-jinja-mae🍥 The menu is extensive so I always have trouble choosing, but in the end I always go for the signature Matsunami-men. The dashi flavor you can only get here is so good〜! The egg is runny, and there are several wontons and slices of chashu, so it's really filling! The portion is generous, so for women I think it's just right not to order the large size. The gyoza were plump and delicious too🥟 Next time I want to try other ramen.. The bowl is an unusual light blue🩵, and the counter tiles and the shop's vibe are coordinated in the same color, so I enjoyed the cute atmosphere too✨

It's right near Shoin-jinja-mae Station on the Setagaya Line. The interior is Showa retro. I had the Matsunami Tsukemen. It was a pretty unique tsukemen. The dipping broth was rich, slightly sour, with seafood flavor and a strong chicken-and-pork dashi. The noodles were on the thin side and seemed to be tossed in oil, maybe so they don't stick together and become hard to pick up? Partly because of that, it felt a bit heavy. Next time I'd like to try the regular ramen.

A combined niboshi and chicken soup with more punch than it looks. It's beside the tracks along the Setagaya Line, and its cute exterior catches the eye. 3 tables, 6 counter seats. The kitchen is large and the space is open, giving a sense of openness unusual for a ramen shop. You order at your seat and pay afterwards. The noodles are thin, and each topping seems carefully prepared. The soup has a strong niboshi taste, but also the softness of an animal-based broth. A little disappointing was that the flavor felt stronger the more I ate, and in the second half I couldn't drink the soup with the spoon. The umami of the seafood and chicken really comes through, so if the salt were a bit more restrained, I might have enjoyed it all the way to the end. I think it'd be good after exercise or when you've worked up a sweat.
