Lovely waitress who was very patient with us despite our lack of language skills. Amazing fresh food that was delicious and filling!

I came to eat tsukemen at 「あきもと」 next door, but it was temporarily closed, so I came here next door at short notice. Luckily, they open at the same time. I ordered the スタミナセット(a yakiniku set meal with soba added and a small serving of rice), 1100円 including tax. The yakiniku was less impressive than the display sample, but the soba was generous and tasty, so I was satisfied. I sat at a table for 2, and there are 7 other tables for 4, so exactly 30 seats, perhaps? I'd say the value for money is fairly good.

Enjoying a classic katsudon set at 「丸屋」 in front of 上町駅 I had lunch at the long-established soba shop 「丸屋」 right in front of 上町駅. Apparently it's so famous that everyone in the neighborhood knows it, so I ordered the katsudon set with high expectations. It's a hearty set combining katsudon and a small bowl of kake soba. The moderately thick cutlet was thoroughly infused with a sweet-savory sauce that paired perfectly with the rice. The coating softened as it absorbed the broth while retaining just the right texture, creating an exquisite balance. The egg was fluffy too, giving it a truly classic flavor. The mini kake soba was simple but had a distinct dashi flavor, and its light taste went well with the katsudon. The gently flavored soba refreshed my palate, and I enjoyed everything to the last bite. The interior has an old-fashioned atmosphere, a calm space with a nostalgic feel. Many local regulars were visiting, making it clear that this restaurant has been loved for years. It's a place I'd like to return to when I want delicious soba or rice bowls in 上町.

上町 has plenty of soba shops spread throughout the area 丸屋 to the north, 砂場 to the south, in every direction—it's a joy to be spoiled for choice with soba The location is good too, a 10-second walk from 上町駅 The soba is delicious, but above all, the katsudon with that sharp Kanto-style soy sauce base is delicious! I'm glad the katsudon set can come with a half portion of soba and chilled tofu comes with it too Other recommendations are tenzaru and gomoku soba The wife and husband are both kind An honest, good neighborhood shop Go without hesitation

A neighborhood soba shop with good-value set menus. Tenmori is 1250円 with lavish tempura. Whether it's good oil or a special coating, the tempura is fragrant. A quail egg comes among the condiments, so you can enjoy changing the flavor. For the katsudon set 1250円(mini soba), the large-portion upgrade of 100円 suddenly makes it 2 portions of noodles, so it's quite a lot.
