Wonderful but the water is like a swamp during summertime.

Visited in May. The azaleas were a little past their peak, but it was a lush, green, calming place away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The area is lined with temples and surrounded by quiet residential neighborhoods, so it's a place to explore calmly and quietly.

Visited on a day in August of Reiwa 6, during a morning walk. Maybe because it was a hot day, I had the place all to myself. It's a really quiet, calming space. It's midsummer now, but when the seasons change it'll probably show a different face. I felt healed. Anyway, the red really pops, and somehow it got my fighting spirit going. Am I a bull or something?

This area was originally a spring zone, with springs in 3 places, and before the Tokugawa era it was the main water source of the Karasuyama River. Because the water sources of this pond and Inokashira Pond are connected underground, when Inokashira Pond rises this spring rises too, and when it falls the water level drops as well. From the autumn of 1960, teals, spot-billed ducks, mallards and others began flying to this pond, and it came to serve as a wintering ground in the middle of the city. The pond is commonly called "Kamo-ike" (Duck Pond) or "Benten-ike" (Benten Pond); in 1984 it was selected as one of the "100 Views of Setagaya" under the name "Karasuyama Duck Pond," and the following year it was designated the Karasuyama Benten Pond Special Protection Area. Incidentally, "Tadaima 70-pa" by Kyoko Iwasaki, a grand figure of children's literature, is a work themed on the ducks that fly to this pond. However, the book has become hard to obtain.

Came here, one of the 100 Views of Setagaya. It was crazy hot, so nobody was around and I could take my time. The contrast with the blue sky looks real nice. You go in through the grounds of Kogen-in, so it might be a bit hard to find.
