I lost too much on horse racing, so this week I'm taking a break from 増味屋 and coming here, where I can get by on about half the budget. Among independently run neighborhood Chinese restaurants within my walking distance, excluding chains, this is the cheapest. The atmosphere isn't bad either, but there are no counter seats, so 4 groups of customers fill the 4 tables, which makes me tend to avoid it, though there's absolutely nothing wrong with the taste. This time I ordered gyoza and a large rice for 650円 including tax. The gyoza are especially superb. I thought I'd just get the 2 individual items, but they also gave me 6 slices of pickled cucumber and soup. Truly fair and generous. As news about rising food prices played on TV, I ate feeling grateful. It's run by a married couple, but they now only open at lunchtime because they can't physically keep up, so don't get the hours wrong. These are the kinds of places I want to support. Please support them, everyone.

A hidden neighborhood Chinese restaurant quietly tucked away in Kyodo, Setagaya. It's run by a lovely married couple. The shop is clean and comfortable, with nostalgic Showa-era flavors; gyoza and beer while watching sumo or a night baseball game are the best❗️ On a later visit I had moyashi soba. It's a simple moyashi soba without any pretensions, just making the most of the vegetables' flavor and the bean sprouts' crisp texture. Lately I think this kind of food is the best.

A place 玉袋筋太郎 visited on the show 町中華で飲ろうぜ before COVID. The gyoza, 爆肉, and ramen look delicious

I had chukadon and gyoza. The slightly sweet thick sauce on the chukadon was delicious. The gyoza were large with chewy wrappers and a light filling; I felt like I could eat any number of them.

The owner said with a gentle, cheerful smile that they now only open during the day Old-fashioned chuka soba I'm happy to see the naruto, a nostalgic, gentle taste Comforting The interior feels clean, and the condiments are neatly arranged too I'd love to eat this ramen every day
