solid chinese food! but also nothing super out of the ordinary!
View on GoogleDon’t be fooled by the outdoor sign! It’s not a run down place. I have to say this is geographically out of my range, and sort of on the expensive side. But it’s a hidden gem! The food, ambience service is worth paying! Parking is an issue but there are coin parking nearby. They play Norah Jones and the like. I like the ambience. Seats are sets of 4 and above.
View on GoogleI had lunch here the other day. First, the sweet-and-sour pork was full of black vinegar flavor, with a sweet-and-sour sauce coating the tender meat beautifully, making it very satisfying. The steamed chicken with scallion sauce had a light yet savory taste, and the generous topping of finely shredded scallions added a crisp accent. The fried rice had nicely separated grains and a distinct egg aroma, simple yet irresistibly delicious. The xiaolongbao came topped with ginger, and juicy meat juices spilled out when I broke the wrapper. I was happy to enjoy them piping hot. The menu is extensive, so I'd like to try other dishes next time. It's a place I'd return to for casually enjoying authentic Chinese food.
View on GoogleWe came for a family celebration. This restaurant is run by a chef who spent many years cooking at a renowned Cantonese restaurant. I think it's very rare to find a neighborhood place where you can casually enjoy such authentic Cantonese cuisine. The refined, exquisite seasoning brings out the flavors of fresh shrimp, squid, and fish, with even the lingering aftertaste to enjoy. The steamed kinki fish in particular tasted amazing! Thank you for the meal♪
View on GoogleDinner with my wife, her parents, and my younger sister-in-law. We visit occasionally because having more people means you can try more Chinese dishes. It's consistently delicious whenever we come. The seasoning is robust. The extensive menu is fun too. I'll list the top 3 things we ate today. 1st: Nagaimo and chicken simmered with black beans The crisp nagaimo pairs perfectly with the chicken. The sauce has a deep flavor. Biting into the black beans gives a miso-like flavor, which is delicious too. 2nd: Shrimp stir-fried in Hong Kong-style butter sauce Springy shrimp are covered in a rich sauce containing cheese and butter. It overturns the idea that Chinese food equals chili shrimp. 3rd: Braised pork belly A small pot comes filled with plenty of piping-hot, tender pork belly. Delicious drizzled with black vinegar and eaten with hanamaki.
