A cute shop, nice staffs, but not much to be memorable.
View on GoogleI heard that exhibitions by sculptor Mio Hashimoto are regularly held at this castella shop, so I visited for the first time. My aim was to see Hashimoto's animal sculptures, but they were also selling castella with limited-edition branded designs matching the sculptures, so I bought a bunch. They also sold value packs of castella ends. Of course I bought those. Postcards of Mio Hashimoto's works, stationery, and so on were also on sale. After getting home I had castella as a snack; it was moist, pleasantly sweet, and very delicious. I could eat any number of them. The castella comes in individual portions, so it's perfect as a souvenir too.

It was a weekend so I waited about 20 minutes, but since there's a limit on the number of people allowed inside, I could spend time comfortably and shop, so I'm glad I lined up. The inside of the shop was really cute too, a lovely space. It was my first time visiting this castella shop, but since the main store is in Mie Prefecture, I wondered if that's the connection with Hashimoto? The castella patterns are very cute; I'm not sure if it's permanent or limited-time, but the plain ones are also sold with Hashimoto's design. I bought 3 kinds of castella, and the spice one had a unique flavor unlike anything I've eaten before, and I really liked it. The sponge has a chai-like flavor, and there are cacao nibs and such at the bottom.
View on GoogleA castella shop with an adorable interior. The displays and stylish décor are like a general goods store, and many kinds of castella are sold. Each package is cute, so I think they'd make a welcome souvenir or gift. I ate the plain castella; it has a simple, rustic flavor with a solid egg taste. I think it's easy to eat for everyone from children to the elderly.
View on GoogleA castella shop in the middle of town. I saw the staff gently guiding customers and went inside. Looking at the ingredients, they seem to be very particular about them. There are cute-looking castella and a variety of flavors, which caught my interest. And they even have castella for dogs. A happy shop where you can eat quality products.
