This restaurant is truly a hidden gem in Setagaya away from the usual tourist traps. Daisuke-San has been here for more than 20 years in this tiny local restaurant serving up the highest quality free range organic chicken directly from a family owned farm. Everything is prepared fresh and grilled by Daisuke-San with an incredible attention to detail. He also has has an impressive selection of unique shochu on offer! We have been coming here for years and always make it a point to stop by when we are in Tokyo.

View on GoogleFirst visit, invited by a friend I'd passed by countless times but never noticed it. A place that makes you wish you'd known about it sooner. The grilled items and sashimi are all delicious. A wide range of shochu at reasonable prices I'll visit again.
View on GoogleSeating is limited, so it may be better to reserve. The master is a really nice person too, and if you ask about the dishes, they'll properly explain. Additive-free dishes, natural wine, and they use Yabusame chicken, which you rarely get to eat; I think you'll relish the texture and the doneness from premium charcoal with its soft aroma. The yakitori tare is a 50-year-old sauce carried on from the previous owner. The pork is Kagoshima black pork and juicy too. The shochu glasses are from Kagoshima and cost several thousand yen each, making delicious shochu taste even better. The recommended items not on the regular menu are also appealing. I'm moved by the owner's ingenuity, which you can't get at a chain. The liver sashimi is something even people who can't eat liver could probably eat, and with Kyushu soy sauce it's like pudding. Also, lava stone grilling, which is common these days, probably originated here. For dessert, you can have the Chiruku cheesecake from the sun lives here, which is currently popular with women in Sangenjaya. They seem to have only a few, so it's safest to check when you reserve. The squid ink avocado sandwich they used to serve as a finisher was delicious, and it seems you can now buy it as takeout normally. It seems they've only just started, so it's better to check in advance when buying!
