Incredible Chinese food, some of the best we’ve had in Japan—definitely coming back! We got the roasted pork fried rice with omelette topping (¥900 + ¥200, comes with a small soup), the dandan noodles (¥1,000), and two shumai (¥600, they recommend having it with Tabasco). Unfortunately the mapo tofu was sold out! Everything was piping hot and super flavourful, and the wait was minimal for dinner at 8.30pm. The owners were very friendly too!

View on GoogleFor the first time in a while, I came across an authentic and delicious Chinese restaurant. 「中華 立波」, which I visited today, was fully booked with reservations. Same-day walk-ins are often difficult, so it's a popular restaurant where booking in advance is a must. The menu written on the blackboard inside is all extremely appealing, so much so that it takes time to decide what to order. Every dish we had this time was superb. In particular, the 「辣子芋」 had an exquisite combination of the stimulating heat of chili peppers and the crispy texture of the potatoes—the perfect snack to keep the drinks flowing. Also, the 「油淋鶏」 topped with plenty of green onions had a great balance of crunchy batter and juicy meat, a gem that never got boring to the very end. The perfectly cooked 「木須肉」 and the noodle dish where vivid garlic chives intertwine with rich egg yolk also spread more deliciousness with every bite. Shrimp dishes, seasonal stir-fried vegetables—everything we ordered was high quality. The menu is very extensive, so it seems you could go any number of times without getting bored and still make new discoveries. A place where you can casually enjoy such authentic Chinese food is truly precious. I was very satisfied having enjoyed such delicious food. I'll definitely book and come again.
View on GoogleThis popular spot near Shoin Jinja is a casual and very reasonably priced Chinese restaurant opened by owner brothers who trained at a popular restaurant in Ogikubo Even though it was Sunday, we got in relatively smoothly, We ordered the popular meat shumai, mapo tofu, stir-fried meat and vegetables, pan-fried gyoza, dandan noodles, and the signature omelette char siu fried rice. The fried rice is ordered at almost every table, Everything has a solid flavor that goes great with drinks, Delicious! Reservations are a must at this restaurant.
View on GoogleCurious about the mysterious menu item called にくにんにくにく定食, I came back. On a holiday, 20 minutes before opening, I was 11th in line. As expected, it was more crowded than I'd thought, but this time I got in with the first round, which was a relief. Most of the customers were ordering this にくにんにくにく定食, the most popular item. After waiting about 30 minutes, it finally arrived. I was overwhelmed by its bold appearance. First I tried the accompanying soup; I don't know how they make it, but it had a wonderful flavor and I was moved. The pork felt like a portion for two, juicy with a rich, super punchy flavor, and it made me eat rice like crazy. This is delicious.. Of course I added more rice. It's heavily sauced, so the cabbage went fast too, and since there wasn't much to begin with, it was gone in no time. This dish seems highly addictive, and since it seems like something you can only eat here, looks like I'll be coming here for a long time. Thank you for the meal. (Previous review) Joined the line just before noon on a holiday, waited about 40 minutes and got in. It was more popular than I expected, and I was a little surprised that there were lots of young couples. What I was after was the 中華丼 + gyoza I'd checked in photos, and if there was no 中華丼 I planned to order 木須肉, but unbelievably, none of them were available, so reluctantly I ordered the omelette fried rice and shumai. Both were delicious, as you'd expect from popular menu items, and fairly high quality, but for the shumai, I thought I'd rather eat it with mustard instead of Tabasco after all. It's light Chinese food without much heaviness, very easy to eat, so if you get hooked it might be a place you want to visit often. Next time, after properly checking the day's menu on Instagram, I definitely want to get my revenge with 木須肉 or 回鍋肉. Thank you for the meal.
