A neighborhood diner run by an elderly couple, roughly halfway between 池上 and 千鳥町 on the Tokyu lines. Allow a little over 10 minutes to walk from either station. Since it's close to 国道1号線, it may be easy to access by vehicle. The old-fashioned, cluttered atmosphere, with manga and other things piled up, feels nostalgic and charming. Orders are taken verbally. Payment is afterward, cash only. The menu features unpretentious dishes ranging from rice bowls to set meals and individual dishes. It's nice that small sides come with the main dish. They serve plenty of rice and miso soup too, so you can get full. As a place loved by locals, I hope they can keep going as long as possible.

An old-fashioned set-meal diner. The seats were round stools, and the tables were arranged lengthwise in 2 rows. I was asked to put my belongings somewhere else. The menu is posted, so you choose from that. Every item was under 1,000円. I ordered omurice. It was 700円 with miso soup, a side dish, and pickles. The chicken rice contained onions and chicken. The omurice, topped with slightly soft-cooked egg, had a home-style flavor. I was given ブラックサンダー when paying.

【Visited January 2026】 On a sunny winter day, I was wandering around 池上. This was my first stop, arriving just after 11. When I opened the door, it was pitch-dark inside, but they said they were open, so I went in. The interior was cluttered, looking like an old-fashioned set-meal diner. At first there was only a male staff member, but a woman later appeared from inside, so perhaps they're a married couple. The walls displayed menus in distinctive handwriting, with prices that felt like another era. ・カレーらいす 650円 ・炒飯 700円 ・とんかつ丼 800円 ・オムらいす 700円 ・鳥唐揚らいす 800円 ・豚かつらいす 750円 And so on. I ordered what seemed to be their specialty, ・チキンかつらいす 700円 . I'd planned to drink tea while waiting, but it was slightly oxidized, so I only took a sip… After a fair wait, the 「チキンかつらいす」 arrived. The main plate had 2 pieces of 「チキンかつ」, cabbage, daikon, miso soup, a small side, pickles, and a large serving of 「ライス」. The amount of 「ライス」 seemed like a lot for a woman, and it was more than enough for me too. I took a sip of the strongly flavored 「味噌汁」, a bite of 「ライス」, and then worked through the other items. I ate the main attraction, 「チキンかつ」, with plenty of sauce. It was tender, and the coating was soft too, making it easy to eat. With the large 「ライス」 as well, I was completely full. I got thoroughly full at a price of 700円 that made me wonder if it was still the Showa era. Thank you for the meal.

Visited 2026.6.15 This place seems likely to divide people completely. The shop! Super Showa! Retro in a good way! Dirty in a bad way? (haha) Probably 40 years ago, they did deliveries, and lots of people enjoyed meals and beer in the evenings. The tatami room is no longer used, so it's full of belongings. Empty beer bottles are lined up in a long row. Tables with Showa-era round stools that make your back hurt (haha) The proprietress who serves you with a smile is wonderful. The owner cooks in the kitchen. They're not thinking about profit. This portion at this price is fantastic! The seasoning is delicious too! But perhaps they don't get many customers? The rice is microwaved. I heard the sound. The ginger pork is strongly seasoned, with large pieces and plenty of meat! If more people came, perhaps they'd use up the rice daily instead of microwaving it, but maybe everywhere is struggling lately? Quite a few places use microwaved rice, don't they? If I lived nearby, I'd love to drink beer with snacks for dinner. After the meal, I was given chocolate. Please stay healthy and keep going for many years.

An atmospheric place with wonderful service. The elderly proprietress is so comforting! A set-meal diner run by an elderly couple! When I went after 19, they said they only had enough rice left for one person, so I had the chicken katsu set and my wife had tanmen. It was delicious, and next time I plan to order something else. Apparently a バーミヤン opened nearby, so they're hesitant to prepare lots of rice. It seems they can cook a batch in 30 minutes, so perhaps you could have a drink while waiting,, The portions were large and filled me up. They even gave us snacks when we left! Came again this week! This time I ordered katayakisoba. Lots of vegetables and delicious!!
