A restaurant that serves only oyakodon. The flavor was well balanced, the dashi came through nicely, and it was delicious. Right now they had a light Kyoto-style flavor, limited to summer. It's served quickly, in under 10 minutes, so it seems like a place you can stop by even when you're short on time.
View on GoogleAn oyakodon lunch shop run by Yakitori Takagi, open only on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Payment is cash only, paid in advance. The owner was running it single-handedly, but food came out quickly, and many customers seemed to leave right after eating, so turnover looked fast. I ordered the limited Kyoto-style oyakodon. The gentle flavor of the dashi was comforting, and the chicken was plump — very delicious. It's not really an atmosphere for leisurely enjoying your meal, but I recommend it when you want to eat something good while short on time.
View on GoogleThis is the lunch of “Yakitori Takagi,” which opened in November 2021 and has already become a popular restaurant. It operates under a different name, and currently it's open only on Thursdays and Fridays. However, there are times it's closed even on Thursday or Friday, such as when Saturday is a public holiday. Sure enough, if you look closely, it also says “Closed: day before public holidays”... This day was a Friday and not the day before a holiday, so I visited in the rain. It opens a bit late, at 12 noon, and I arrived at almost exactly that time. There was already one group of 2 ahead of me, and I settled into a corner of the counter. There's only one item on the menu, so ・Oyakodon, 1000 yen it was. Payment is cash only and in advance. While I drank cold water, the earlier customers' oyakodon was served first, and then they started cooking mine. A lovely aroma of dashi drifted through the shop. The “Oyakodon” that came out had lots of chicken bound in soft, runny egg, with mitsuba placed in the center. It's a simple oyakodon, and I felt that's actually what makes it good. First, a sip of the “chicken soup.” Not only the chicken stock but the saltiness was strong too — a richer soup than I'd imagined. Then I shifted to the “Oyakodon.” Eating it with a renge spoon, this too was an “Oyakodon” with rich dashi, more heavy than light. The chicken itself has a solid flavor, so I thought this stronger seasoning actually suits it better. The portion was substantial, and the balance with the amount of rice was excellent. It was the kind of flavor that made me want a beer at midday, but I still had work, so I made do with water. It was a rich “Oyakodon” for fully enjoying this dashi. Thank you for the meal.
